I so agree with you miriam and triggers advice very good.

It sounds like buddy is just putting a paw in the water but it wont take much to send him back over the top

Thanks for all the tips guys.
Trigger you're right, I think I Will bide my time a while. I read today written by a cat behaviourlist that any good work to help a cat can be undone if you think they are getting better but they are really not ready. Buddy is 'testing the water' a little by looking at me when I am in the kitchen for a few Min's and I want for him to take his time and only do what he feels comfortable with.
He's been back home 2 weeks now but still terrified, be nice if I could have a quick look at him physically just to make sure all is OK with him but I guess as long as he is eating well and using the litter tray OK, that's all I can hope for him for now.

Not sure Des but Buddy is still traumatised so one thing at a time I would say - Millibex has worked on Sam the ferals worms and he is free and also Miss Indies worms so if he will take a tablet - I used pill pockets on the ferals left it in the biscuit bowl whils they were in the pens and both demolished them

Liz, does Panacur granules treat all worms? I am sure one of the Panacur's doesn't. There is another powder wormer though, I forget its name though.
Please spay your cat

panacur granules can be mixed in with a food in gravey and fed over 3 days - we have just used it on our new arrivals Nasty and Evil is what the nicely taped up box said - they are now called Turbo - he is the nasty hissy one and Jet is the sweet food orientated one!

Just to day we use the Program injections on all our cats and have found it to be the most effective for our lot - a very multi household - the dogs get Program Plus tablets monthly

but you won't want to set him back by trapping him for a vet visit, Miriam, I'm sure

I have the same problem with Tosker, and have decided to live with it until I can get close enough to put some Stronghold on him

the way I see it - if a young adult cat is eating well and is otherwise fit and healthy fleas, mites and worms won't kill him - sometimes physical wellbeing has to take second place to psychological wellbeing for a while

Miblemax has a beef flavour coating so that would hopefully be OK in dry food. There is a flea treatment called Program that can be mixed in food although I tried it with Clapton due to his allergies and although they claim it is tasteless, he wouldn't eat the food. I tried it with a few different food without any luck. The other thing is it doesn't kill fleas, it just stops eggs hatching and larvae developing. There is an injectable form that the vet can do every 6 months. I know Liz uses it for her ferals.

Dewormer and flea med's advice please
« Reply #1 on: August 22, 2009, 12:02:17 PM »
Please could someone advise me on the best dewormer and flea medicine that I can put into food. My cat buddy is untouchable at the mo due to the trauma of being missing for 2 months. He had his meds at the vet in mid june and is now due his next quarterly but it has to be something I can hide in his food.
Many Thanks,
Miriam
