Can this be moved to sorted section now Shelly - is she def staying with you?

I'm guessing no one will ever want our little Pooky so i guess so JaneyK.  :)
I know her and understand her and know how to handle her.
She can actually be a little sweetheart when she wants to be and meows for attention.
She is so thin now that she just looks like a skelington covered in fur.  :(

I don't think she has long left as she falls to sleep in mid walk across the worktops and feel she will pass in her sleep one night. But in her ageing years she makes it everytime to the litter tray. It angers me that her previous owners tossed her out at such a ripe age. :(

nb.. i tried to add a pic but was told "file too big" :(

She never washes herself and i take my life in my hands when i wipe her over with baby wipes.
She hasn't bitten me in a long time so i think she actually likes me lol.

They kept the dog  Is it a magical dog that somehow doesn't drop any hairs in the house? Sounds like they just wanted an excuse to me, how sad :( Spooky is lovely though, I like kits with a bit of attitude and she sounds like she has heaps of it!

I guess you could say she is stopping because nobody else wants her lol. I would certainly miss her if she went.
She never washes herself i think at her age she thought "I cant be bothered no more" lol and will fall asleep anywhere. She eats well but has remained as thin as the day she arrived. I keep trying to upload a pic but it tells me its too big :(  All cats in the house give her a very wide berth. lol  ;D

Did Spooky get a home Shelly?

Nope she's still here hunni, Still a grumpy cantankerous old biddy. She has caused one of my cats to have an eye out because she was always lashing out and caught their eye and ruptured the eyeball.

She is a bit quieter nowadays than she was when she first arrived but still just as feisty. I have had many bites on my hands from Spooky when i have picked her up to move her.

She does love the odd cuddle and rubs her face on my cheek while purring.

She does have a warning notice. "Handle with extreme caution. lol

Thanks for the update I have been wondering about her.  I think that's a lovely thing to do to put her on your pillow at night she must feel so confused and it's good to know you are doing your best for her

Sorry my heads all over the place. I forgot about this thread.

Spooky lays under the stairs on a blanket during the day that i put there for her and does not move much. I take her to bed at night and place her on my pillow where she stays for quite some time and i feel her relax a little and can hear an ever so tiny puss cat song. She stretches her front paws wich shows me she is a little relax with that situation. She is eating as long as i can keep the other cats away from her. She is just so very sweet.

I find is a little odd that if you look at her she will turn her head away she will no way look in my direction. So i just stroke her without looking at her so she hopefully feels more comfortable.

Thank you all for your concern.

Purrrs & Hugz.

Shelly.

Aww, I hate it when they act so upset at the move - when I picked up Tiger, she was howling in the carrier, so I drove home in tears - her owner decided after 13 years he didn't want the hassle of a cat anymore. Do you have any Rescue Remedy, as that should help her a bit. It is cats like her that make me glad we have fosterers who can give them a home environment, as they are the ones that really couldnt cope in a rescue environment.
Please spay your cat

She is Black - white  and her name is Spooky we have been told she is coming up to 16yrs old. We also had a call today about an 8 week old kitten that someone wants to rehome. We told them yesterday we would go and see them and possibly collect on sunday evening at 3pm. We got back today to find we had 5! missed calls and when we rang back thay said they wanted to deliver the kitten to our house to wich we refused and said we would pickup as arranged tomorrow. I will be posting Bella and Alice soon. They are both so lovable and freindly they did not deserve to be chucked out with the rubbish just so thier owners could have a better life in the sun.  >:(  >:(    :censored:  :censored:

reason for edit... she is black & white not black with white patch. sorry i'm all over the place at the moment my head doesnt know where its at. also removed some smilies as there was too many to wich i apologise.

We now have this old lady with us. I cannot put into words at the moment as to how i feel.
She is totally lost and does not know whats hit her. She looks totally shellshocked!
and is on my worktop on a blanket she has not eaten or drank since she arrived at around 1pm.
If she could possibly sink any further into the wall behind her i'm pretty sure she would.  :(
I am so angry because she has been with the same people since she was a kitten
and now she is in a strange place full of other cats with thier own stories.
I am going to take her to bed with us tonight to hopefully make her feel better.
I am in tears at the moment.  :'(

 I'll shed a few tears with you Shelly, I wonder do they know she is heartbroken  :'(

We have also just taken in 2 female cats aged between 2 - 3yrs old that were abandoned by thier previous owners because they emigrated to spain. They spent 8 days in a pen at the vets  and one of the girls (Alice) has lost a lot of fur due to stress and a flea allergy. They are both so lovable and did not deserve to be dumped! but as we get a lot of.. they are both black and black/white. They have been called Bella & Alice by the vets who called us who got a recomendation from the RSPCA to call us.

Sorry rant over. :(

The ladies son has a 10 day old baby that is coming out of great ormand hospital
Does the son, his missus and new child live in spookys house then? Or is it a good excuse for grandparents to shift the cat out

The cat and dog live with the son, wife and baby. We are arranging to visit them to get more details of the dog. But we are also going to contact a freind at the council who also works for a few dog rescues to see if he can help. Its all go at The-Kats-Whiskers at the moment  :tired: lol

I hope these people will at least consider boarding the cat if necessary for a couple of weeks to give longer to find a home

I don't know how long the baby needs the tube hunni, the lady did explain more but we are arranging to go to her house (if she rings back) to have a chat to confirm the story. But i said i would post the cat in the mean time. And i will be sure to mention what you said about cat hair remaining in the house.

Couldn't they foster the cat with friend/relative until the child is clear of the tube?

I don't understand this - ok, they can remove the cat from the house - but if they've had a cat in the house for all those years, do they really think that they are going to be able to get rid of every single bit of fur left in the house? Why can't they just keep the cat out of the baby's room for now, because I'm assuming the tracheotomytube is only a temporary thing?

Spooky is a lovable 16yr old black female who is healthy for her age and very lovable she also likes dogs and doesn't mind cats.

Her owners are heart broken that they are having to part with her because they have had her since she was a kitten. The ladies son has a 10 day old baby that is coming out of great ormand hospital with a tracheotomy fitted to its throat. The baby cannot be near any animals because of the possible risk of any fur entering the tube.

The family was given our number by our local vets to see if we could help. Sadly we donnot have the resources or space for a possible long term rescue, we already have an elderly Persian that needs life long medication. The family would be extremely grateful to anyone that can take this lovely old lady into their home.

If anyone can help then please contact us at admin@the-kats-whiskers.co.uk Thank you.

Picture to follow if the family can find one.

PS. This is extremely urgent because the babies arrival home is imminent
