Just buy under your other cats name, as long as they have been regularly eg vax's then they can prescribe hand over the counter for you 
If i buy any POM flea/worm treatments they are all billed under one cats name

Stronghold and advocate both do earmites so you can get whichever one they stock

will the stronghold do ear mites too? I was treating her with Thornit? but after about 3 days she gets too wise to the smell and scarpers and then a couple months later she's head shaking again


edit just found that it does so will speak to my vet tomorrow

Horza I would try asking your vet but if not let me know and I will get some from my vet for you..it would be stronghold cos thats what I use on my cats.

Dont know what crazy price they are charging for it

did the vet give it to you without seeing him? I need some for my ex-feral Missy but there is no way I can get her in a carrier without losing a coupe of litres of blood

Horza when my sister wanted some I actually got it from my vet for her when I took Schui in, I described the symptoms and explained the situation to her this was because my sister didn't have a cat at that time.  My vet said if it didn't work then she would need to trap the cat and take it a vet.  Fortunately it worked for her and the cat was much better.

thanks - I'll try a quick squirt while he's sleeping - the nozzle will part the fur a bit probably - and I can afford to waste one capsule

having got him to the stage of spending most of the day, and every night in the enclosure, I daren't risk frightening him now - bearing in mind he can climb out whenever he chooses to do so

and he is still some way off being stroked, or even approached too closely

My sister managed on a feral cat Trigger, bit tricky but it worked 

eta: I've just asked and she sneaked up when he was eating and her hubby talked to him to from infront to keep him distracted and she just squirted on back of his neck - but he was quite old and a bit balding so that made it easier.

either quick and nasty with someone holding him for you or as you sat when he's sleeping, have it ready and if he's happy for you to stroke him bash it on!
if all else fails a war and bath towel!

I have bought some Advocate for Tosker's earmites, but I am afraid of freaking him out by touching him

I could, however, apply it to the back of his head when he is sleeping, but could not part the fur

question is, please, would it be wasted if it went only on his fur, or woud it be absorbed by the hair follicles eventually and get into his system that way?
