Even when Max's thyroid levels went down, we still kept to the same dose as well, vet said she was happier with it being a little bit low, than possibly creeping up again by reducing the Vidalta.

Desley, I also wonder about it going too low and you know when you get off the phone and think oh damn I wish I'd asked x, y....anyway we'll see. Regarding the dental, she initially said we'll get him stable then do the dental - unless we have to. So, I think if his teeth were upsetting his tummy like Byron's were she would do it now, she must think the op is more risk to him still than his teeth are.

Aww, I am really pleasad to hear this, although surprised at staying on the higher dose, does that not mean his levels will continue to go down at that rate? Shame it is still another 3 months till his dental though, but he is looking great

the vet rang and his T4 has gone from 84 to 31! and previously it was <200 so we're really pleased, (vet was aiming between 30 and 50)

so she said it's perfect and he has to stay on the same dose of Vidalta 2 x 10mg. He can have his dental in about 3 months and he has to have antirobe about 2wks per month 'til then.

Pep goes to the vets today for his thyroid bloods checking, it doesn't seem like a month has passed since his last one! He's been fine and taken all his meds, he feels heavier and his fur has improved so hopefully his bloods are near normal now so he can soon have that much needed dental.

yep, Lauren cut the ones she brought whilst at our house and some of hers were in a few bits too. I did wonder though whether there were better pill cutters but sounds like they are all they same. Crushing them is easy even with a fork but cutting them so small isn't!

I remember only too well how hard Istin tabs are to cut into 8ths, even with a pill cutter.

Don't worry if the sizes aren't completely regular, as long as its roughly about right its fine

Yep thanks, I went to collect his meds the other day (cost a fortune

) and the vet has increased his Vidalta from 15mg to 20mg a day so she is trying to get it down quickly, fingers crossed for next month. I also bought a pill cutter/crusher to crush his fortekor and cut Istin and although the crusher is ok it doesn't cut the istin very well as it has to be cut into 8

Desley, I was a little surprised too but she obviously doesn't think he's still well enough to do the op. Although his teeth are bad the abs must have helped because his mouth isn't as smelly and he doesn't seem to be having any tummy problems atm so I'm guessing she's weighing one thing up against the other and will use abs until she thinks he's well enough to extract them.

I am glad things have come down well in such a short space of time, and fingers crossed they continue to come down - I am surprised at her wanting to delay the dental quite so long though, as if they are really bad, the bacteria wont be doing his body any good.
