Now I just need him to trust me. He is fine when he is hungry but when heisn't he is running behind the sofa etc. It is a nice afternoon an I haven't hoovered the dining room for over a week so I guess he is going to enjoy a bit of time in the garden  :evillaugh:

I just want him to chill outside like he used to (this was 5 years ago)

James had phoned again this morning while I was out (at PAH  :evillaugh: ) so I phoned back. He said the way I heard it is correct "Moderate sub acute inflammation" - I suggested it may mean that although it was bad, it didn't do any permanent damage and James seemed to agree with that. I also asked about feeding Clapton adult food with binders rather than senior with binders as he enjoys it so much more - he really relishes it rather than eats some as he is hungry. James said the most important thing is that he is eating but at the same time to minimize phosphorus as much as possible. So I will stick to a mix of foods including Purina renal  so at least he is getting as little phos as possible but still gets to enjoy his food. I think enjoyment of food is a big part of quality of life so have to compromise somewhere.

I missed a call from the vet.

He said it was a Moderate sub-acute infection (OH says he thinks the vet said sub-cut(aneous) but it didn't sound like that to me although it makes sense) - he was leaving to do home visits so said he will speak with me in more depth tomorrow.

ANyway, at least we know our boy hasn't got cancer  :)

Its funny but I always say Clapton is fussy as he eats about 1/3rd of a pouch and sits there waiting for something else. It must just be that he eats enough to take the worst of the hunger off but doesn't like it as since I have been giving him adult Whiskas chicken in jelly, he has been licking the plate clean - if he doesn't eat it all, he is happy to go back and finish it later. He never does that with senior and renal is just a waste of money as he attempts to eat about 1 in 7 but givs up after 2 or 3 mouthfuls. I may try to do a mix of renal and whiskas to see how it goes. Otherwise, it is just an expensive waste.

I'm glad Clapton is doing better   I've given up trying to get Max to eat anything 'good for him'. He lives on Applaws, Hi Life and his senior RC dry.  If it was a choice between a 'good' food that he enjoyed, then I'd push that rather than the junk. Like Swampy really likes k/d, but probably would prefer applaws. So he gets mostly k/d and a little applaws just to keep him happy. I eat enough that isn't good for me!

I hope you get the results soon and that they are good news Mark.  I know how stressful it is waiting

I am being quite lenient foodwise. He was on senior but has never seemed that keen. He adores Whiskas adult chicken in Jelly pouches so I have been allowing them (still adding binders) It's a juggling act between keeping them happy with food they enjoy and keeping them well.

It is a juggling act, but I always say weigh up what they appear to be better on, but then you feel bad in other ways so its an ongoing vicious circle!

Maybe he is feeling more contentment of late and thats why he is seeming more chilled?

So what day are the results gonna be available from?

I chased results today and they said a week to 10 days  :waiting:

Just wondering if its an age thing but Clapton although seems quite well in himself and a lot calmer than he has been in ages, doesn't seek out our company or want to go in the garden. He has the dining room to himself and just lets me know when he is hungry. He always used to look for a lap in the evening.

He seems fine thanks Ruth  :)

In fact, he was the first to ask for breakfast this morning  :evillaugh:

He has decided to move into the dining room rather than upstairs where he had spent the last 6 months+

In fact we bought a nice throw in TK Maxx to protect the back of the sofa from drool make him more comfortable.

I managed to get a few pictures but didn't want to bother him too much. I put a lap protector on the back of the dining room sofa this morning - some would say it is to protect the sofa and others to make Clapton more comfortable  :innocent:  :evillaugh:

Thanks Pav

He is cleaning himself now and has decided to go back up to the bedroom but if I go up there, he jumps underneath. Given how clean he looks, I think this mst have been building up for a while. I don't want to be premature but I have a good feeling that it was just a nasty infection and hopefully nothing worse. I'm sure he wouldn't be as well in himself otherwise?
He was sitting on the stairs tonight and I went to sit with him. I was gently rubbing his head and cupped it in my hand and he rested his head in my hand, closed his eyes and started to go to sleep  :Luv2:

Awwww, glad he seems to be picking up even more  :) hopefully just infection Mark, Byron loves me to cup her head too, it's so sweet - I think it makes them feel secure
