Thankyou very much for the suggestions all - chicken breasts won. Picked some up on my lunch break, got home, boiled them, waited for them to cool, served them up, the boys came running over ... sniffed them and sauntered off

Offered them some wet food - they wolfed it down.

Cats eh?  :-[

I have to admit that I've only been in a mcdonalds a handful of times as that kind of fast food has never really appealed to me.  And if I have been in one in recent years it would probably have been to get a sandwich or something (I ended up in one just before xmas getting a warm chicken sandwich in a baguette - I do remember that).

I'd second the vote for Pilchards or Sardines in tomato sauce, Tiggy used to love them.

I'd rather go for a fry up myself, that one Mark described has me dribbling over the keyboard  :drool;

mcdonalds

The thing with Mcdonalds is that the smell is much nicer than the taste lol.

Saying that though, went for a mooch in town with o/h last weekend and he tried one of those new 3 pepper Angus Burgers in Burger King ........ I only had a little taste as was being virtuous, but my it tasted good.  It tried all of my resolve walking past today, but I was good, carried on walking, and came back to the office for my bagel instead  ;D

mcdonalds

iI have only ever had one MacDonald’s in my life and that was a case of needs must.- or starve until about 7 p.m. when we could have an evening meal in the Hotel. We were in Switzerland one Christmas eve and at 2 o’clock everything closes. All the restaurants and cafes were full so the only option was McDonalds; my husband however, said he would rather go without.

I should know better. 2 years ago, my cholesoerol was 6.5 and I was supposed to go back after 6 months the doctor asked if I wanted oills or if I could manage by diet. I opted for the latter but I don't think he meant fry-ups and mcdonalds  :evillaugh:

I guess it's OK as a weekly treat but not every day.

Anyway off to get my chicken club sandwich to eat on the front

Fresh roasted chicken, crispy bacon, lettuce, mayo, tomato, all on freshly baked bread. served with some nice plain crisps and a giant bakewell tart to follow  :evillaugh:

I like these suggestions though - is raw beef ok for them?

Yes - as has been said, just make sure it's fresh and reasonably good quality.  Jaffa loves large chunks (he used to be only able to manage small pieces but has gradually got the hang of ripping apart larger pieces of raw meat - good for his teeth) whereas Mosi can only cope with small pieces - he likes the taste/texture but doesn't know what to do with larger pieces.

I'm hankering after a fry up now (after my healthy salad for lunch)

mmmmmmm fry up  :tongue 2:

Making me feel very hungry, but on a diet so not allowed things like that until I've lost another few pounds, then I can have a treat  :)

Max loves it when I cook salmon, that's one of his favourite treat foods!

I went to my favourite cafe in Canterbury yesterday. Lean bacon, saysage, egg, chips (proper cut potatoes, cooked in fresh oil every time he says), heinz baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, mug of tea (kentish tea company premium tea) all for £4.50! - t's my treat eating there, I would rather have that than go to a fancy restaurant

Forget the cats, I'll treat myself  :evillaugh:

I wish I had time to go today - haven't eaten yet and it seems really appealing. Others go to canterbury to see the cathedral, I go for a fry-up  :evillaugh:

Which reminds me do you know the difference between a Cornish cream tea and a Devon cream tea?

Probably similar to a Canterbury cream tea or a Yorkshire cream tea I would imagine

As long as its fresh its fine  :)
If they havent had it before they might not see it as a treat, one of mine has taken several months to pluck up the courage to try it and now gobbles it like the others  :evillaugh:

Pilchards in tomato sauce is also a favourite

H is american and can never understand how much tea I drink

I know exactly what you mean, We were in a tea room in Devon once and a couple of Americans came in and asked if they could have coffee with their cream tea.

Which reminds me do you know the difference between a Cornish cream tea and a Devon cream tea?

I don't really like 'normal ' tea much, although I  do have peppermint tea, Sleepytime tea which is a blend of chamomile, mint  & flavourful herbs and some fruit teas. Also occasionally I like a pot of Earl grey.

Our boys go mental for chicken. The wife boils a batch, and separates an amount for us and an amount for the cats. She gives them a wee taster there and then, but tries to keep it to spread it out during the week. She keeps it in a small tupperware container, and now they recognise the sound of it opening, they come running from every part of the house to have some!  :evillaugh:

a couple of steamed chicken breasts would be a quid each and take about 10 minutes. Mine gets that once a week, and it always goes down well.

Right then. I want to give my boys something different for tea tonight, instead of their usual wet food, as a bit of a treat. Obviously it would have to be good for them (or at least not bad for them). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Ta very much  :)
