Have got Pod back home. He is still very poorly. The medication has brought his temp down a bit.
Now just got to keep close watch and hope the dose of antibiotics works for Pod & Rolo.
Pod is the biggest & always been the most healthy, yet this has hit him the worst.

He is still salavating and very weak.  Worried sick, the fear i might loose my big lad  :'( :'( :'(

They have done blood tests. Spoke to the nurse as vet was in surgery.
All she said that his white blood cell count is high. They have given him a couple of injections (like others got)
and keeping an eye on him, and have a fan on him to keep him cool as temp still high.

Just want him back home  :'(

He's fighting the infection then if his wbc is high, poor Pod and you  :( he's in the best place Tina they'll be able to monitor him and bring his temperature down so he'll feel better, hope he's soon well

My vet said anything over 39 is fever. I'm sure the Covenia will bring their temps down in a few hours - that's what my vet said with Kylie - Pod is in the best place right now

The vet thru the nite should of done more, my vet reckons they should of given him an injection like the others had.
But she said that she prefers to give tablets & let their immune system fight it off.

Gutted... come home without big lad pod-pod  :'( :'( :'(
They are doing blood tests etc, he is really poorly. Temp is 40 plus.

Rolo has had the injections flora had on friday, his temp also 40plus. Rolo is not as lethargic as Pod.
And pod slavering was getting thicker & worse, he tummy was sort of convulting as if he wanted to be sick, but was'nt.

Good luck at the vet today Tina. Hopefully just a bug - different cats can have different symptoms just like people. It's horrible when our pets are sick  :(

About 6 weeks ago, Kylie went off her food and huddled up in her house in the garden. I took her to the vet and she had a temperature. She was given a synolox jab and a week's antibiotics but she was a lot better within a day - lets hope it's the same for yours

I have spoke to the vet at the emergency hospital.
They have advised me to keep an eye on him & the others.
If pod becomes lethargic during the nite i can ring them & take him straight in.

Rolo is also starting to rub at his nose and just wanting to curl up for cuddles.

They are all going to be seen by the vet.

Thing thats worrying is the stray thats hanging around, he will just keep coming back.

I have a strong feeling thats how my babies have become poorly, and my lot have come into contact
with stand offs.  Pod is worst with it, he wont back off.

I am going to need help to sort this stray, but can not bring it in the house.

The vet has a emergency hospital. Watching his every move, his eyes seem different, like sunken in, and dull.

I am worried sick, because i lost rosie, she had picked up an infection from a stray tom. and within
3 days it killed her red blood cells & they could do nothing to help her.

There is a stray here hanging about & they dont get on. (sure he is nuetered, but has no home around here)

I would keep a close eye on them, 2 of my cats got this and within a week one of them was dead  :(

Not trying to scare you there just be on the look out for things like hiding away, not eating drinking ect-if they get seriously ill they will need intensive care back to health

I think I'd try to get Pod a vets appt tomorrow, vet should know whether its likely that he has the same thing as Flora. Either way he might need abs. Hope they are both better really soon!!

Hi Tina,

Sorry to hear both kitties aren't well, I'd probably wait and see how Pod is tomorrow and if he's still sneezing let the vet check him over too in case he's caught what Flora has, hope they are both better soon.  Let us know how they get on

Please Help Advice wanted POD IS IN VET HOSPITAL. GUTTED
« Reply #1 on: July 26, 2009, 21:05:49 PM »
Hi, had flora at the vets Friday as she started sneezing & her eye was running.
Vet gave her 2 injections, one was a anti-inflammatory, the other a 14 day anti-biotic.
This afternoon Pod was sick (he has been sick a few times this last week - something he never does)
Now he is slavering and sneezing. He is still eating and waltzing around growling at the stray which keeps
showing its face in the back garden.
Flora was not slavering at all.
Pod does not have runny eyes.

Advice much appreciated.
