hi guys,

Joey is doing much the same really.  No real progress to report in the last couple of days.  He continues to keep his spirits up and is enjoying big cosy snuggles on his big bed and plenty of affection.  He has begun being able to move his back legs a little more which is great and a sign that they are becoming less painful.

Actually caught him cleaning his back toes / pads this morning.  He continues to be as vocal as ever and his eating has slowed down.  Although on small, mushy meals 4/5 times a day i would like too see him eat a little more but he is eating enough to sustain him and we have to remember that his tummy is obviously very small having been without food for so long.

All in all he does seem to be moving in the right direction I just don't want to get mine, or anyone else's hopes up as he still has a very long way to go. :wish:

On a very positive note however I did get an offer of a home for Joey from the local community warden who stopped in on Friday.  She fell for him instantly and although we have to see how things go she would, for now, very much like to take Joey in.  so just have to keep everything crossed we can get him through this.  :wish:  :Luv2:

we don't really have any idea of how old he is bonnielass.  With no teeth to use as a judge and his overall very very poor condition it makes it very hard to even guess.  Whilst we are saying he is an old boy, there is every chance that he isn't actually as old as we believe him to be and it is poor condition and weathering outdoors that makes him look older.  Very difficult to tell.

He is certainly smoozing everyone though that is for sure.  We had a surprise visit today from the local community warden (a first for us) and she fell for his charms instantly.  Personally I think its the big overhang and pouty lips that do it... make him look like he's in a real huff.  She has said she will come back in a couple of weeks and spend some time with him.  Looks like he's got himself another new friend.

Do you know how old he is Sarah ? is he an old boy or is it just because of his condition that makes him look old,                                              He really is a special little man and reminds me so much of my oldie Eddie, he looked pretty much like that, ( no sores ) all skin and bone and very shaky on his legs too, and hes turned out to be the most loving little cat you could ever wish to meet :Luv2:

thanks guys... I think its fair to say he's as tough as old boots and we are just so glad that we got to him when we did as we really don't think he would've lasted much longer by himself and without care and treatment.

He is such an adorable little soul he really is and through no fault of his own has this very odd look that just makes your heart melt and want to scoop him up.  I think made more so by the fact that his gums are so open and with the overhang it makes him look like he is permanently pouting. :Luv2: :Luv2:

We are very much hoping he continues to improve and last night some of the scabbing start to come away and we caught him trying to clean the very back of his back legs last night (very much with the help of his lovely new bed as support).  He is still very very shaky on his legs but hardly surprising considering he has no muscle mass anywhere!

His appetite continues to be OK and all we can do is keep everything crossed and hope this stays the same until we get him back to the vet a week on Monday for a check over and see where we go from there.

For now, he is comfortable, in much less pain, warm and safe.  that's the important thing and we will just have to make him as happy as we can whatever the future may hold for Joey.

His face and eyes are looking so much better :wow:, bless him.  I wish I could donate my lap!  Wonderful to see such an improvement, it's made me a bit tearful.  Sending lots more healing vibes his way.

His skin condition looks similar to rain scald that horses can suffer from when they are outside in all weathers.

As promised here are the latest pics of Joey.  In case anyone is wondering it is food he has all over his face!   :innocent:  he is a tad of a messy eater and likes to shake his head and send it all over the pen... which you will see in some of the pics below!  :innocent:  LOL  :Luv2:

As I said in my earlier post these may upset some but this is Joey at least 100 times better than he was on Sunday.      :Luv2:

Sorry I haven't updated on Joey sooner today guys but I've been rushed off my feet here all day.

Joey has had a good night and a nice day today.  He has eaten OK today and his skin has definately dried out and scabbing over and his skin is definately settling down with only a few patches that are still very red / sore.  Mainly seems to be inside legs and back legs. But he is getting there.

We certainly know that his lungs are OK as when he wants something he certainly hollers! lol  bless him, he is such a wee soul and would just love for someone to sit with him all day.  We have just been in with him giving him supper and cuddles and have got a load of pics for you.  I am currently just uploading them and then will start a new reply with the piccies for you all.

I would like to say that whilst they do show he is improving some of you may still be upset by some of the images so if I do upset anyone, I'm very sorry
