I've been looking at the foodforcats site & will order some. Just wondering how much I should order, how long would a kg last usually for 1 cat, say on 2 meals a day?

Its quoted in kilos on the Food 4 Cats site, but it actually comes in 400g packs, so thats quite handy. You can order a sample box of all the different meats, which gives you a chance to see which ones they prefer. I think they still do the sample box for £10 refundable on first order.  :)

1 kg. is a lot for just one cat! And don't forget to vary, not only in species but also in:

- organs
- bone
- other meat

a cat needs all that, so I prefer to give less and vary a lot to make sure they get everything they need...

Do I have to buy specially prepared meat or can I just get it from the supermarket or butchers?

Also how much raw meat should he be eating?

You can also buy meat from supermarkets and butchers, but I don't know how it works in the UK. Here in Holland it's much better to buy elswere because it's SO much cheaper.
I only give my cats raw food, as much as they like. Some others give 2 meals per day... It's important to vary with different types of meat. Someone told me to have at least 5 kinds of animals.

If you start making mealtimes it would help his eating, much like humans, snacking ruins your appetite!
If you offer his food at breakfast and then remove after say 20 mins then offer again at lunch and supper he will establish some routine, be it raw or not.
Have you tried pouches and mashing it up?

You can buy meat from the supermarket/butcher, but you need to supplement it to make it balanced. This is good supplement that I use from time to time http://felineinstincts.ca/ - its a powder with all the nutrients required to make the meat balanced.

You can also buy meat that includes bones and organs minced up together, I get mine from here http://www.food4-cats.co.uk/ - it comes in frozen packs. Mine all love most of the varieties, although we havent tried the ostrich yet!

This site is brilliant for anything to do with raw feeding and cat health http://www.catinfo.org/ with recipes if you want to make your own. And this site is similar http://www.catnutrition.org/index.php

Mine like chicken, beef, lamb, but their favourite is definitely turkey. As to how much to feed, really depends on the individual cat really, raw is more nutrient dense though.   :)

How old is Naboo?

we don't know! The rescue home we got him from suggested he's 10, but we think he's a lot younger than that

Naboo won't eat tinned cat food. He licks the jelly off but won't touch the meat.

He's been eating raw chicken instead aswell as dry cat food but what else should I be feeding him?

He's tried beef but he had diarrhea for afew days afterwards so don't think it agreed with him.

Do I have to buy specially prepared meat or can I just get it from the supermarket or butchers?

Also how much raw meat should he be eating?

tbh he doesn't eat much (he's v small but not unwell so just think he doesn't have a large appetite) & doesn't have set feeding times yet, he never asks for food & never eats at the same time everyday so I'm not sure when & how often I should be offering food
