Urinary Infection: Cat Diarrhea

Cats with bad constipation will often pass diarrhoea as its the only thing that can get past if you see what i mean. Her straining to poo could also be what makes her cystitis style wees.
Does she eat wet food or just dry?
I would speak to the vet about trying something to soften her stools, he would also be able to feel her abdomen and know if shes backed up or not.

Maybe the diarrhea shifted most of what was in her tum and the little bit that came out was the last of that? 

Im sure you are just being an over protective meowmy, she will be getting fluids from her wet food so dont worry that she will dehydrate or anything like that! 

Meds usually do have a kicking in period, usually with anti-bs 48hrs is a good turn around period! 

Hope she manages to show you that she is starting to feel better soon...try not to get too flustered, Positive vibes to your furbabe and hugs for you!

if its convenia that she was given...think its the only 2 week one, it takes a couple of days to kick in properly. it cleared misas cystitus although he was given metacam too.

if she is still having tummy probs at end of weekend i would definately speak to the very again, cos unlikely i think that its the abs but needs to get her tummy sorted.

Thank you all for your kind responses.  While still cheerful she was able only to pass a little stool this morning so must be constipated, also did not eat all her food, still not interested in drinking water. Does that sound normal? Good point about giving the injection time.

Well I would of gave the same response as Debs....The Abs are doing their job... She sounds well in herself ie the playing around, not peeing outside of the box etc....

If of course you feel anxious over her you should give your vets a ring to reassure yourself....I know its a weekend but they still answer the phone ( )

If she were my cat I would not be overly worried...Does she eat wet foods?

Sounds as though the Abs are doing the job on her urinary tract infection. Glad she's feeling better. Mine often get a dodgy tum when on antibiotics so just keep her fluids up and hopefully it will settle down. 

Kind of you but she is not getting better which is why I have had to post.

For a few days Sophie  was peeing far too regularily and off her water.

She had difficulty passing stools and when she did they were hard and dry.

I took her to the vets yesterday morning and though she was in all day she did not pee once so they did not get a urine sample. But they diagnosed urinary infection and gave her an anti-biotic injection to last two weeks and she came home.

She hardly pees now and when she passed stool this evening it was Diarrhea.

She is full of beans and playing around and not showing any signs of problems such as abnormal behaviour; licking or peeing outside her box.


Being a weekend the vets are closed so I can't talk to one until monday.

Anyone familiar with these symptoms?
