Hi everyone,
Yes they have done X-rays and he said the liver biopsy was too risky and intrusive .and i didn''t want to put her through that and lose her quicker .
The liver did not look right and there were abnormal cells on it
She has only been drained , not any surgery , but has had loads of tests with blood, fluids etc.., but he can feel the mass inside her.

Sorry it isnt better news
If the fluid goes then you have the option of asking for an ultrasound to be done, they are not invasive in anyway and dont need sedation to do it.
If the liver was abnormal when the vet opened her up and a mass can now be felt i dont think id opt for a liver biopsy, i went through one with milly not long ago as there was no other diagnostic options to go for, its quite a big op and has its risks.

Sorry to hear about Bungly. Is it not possible to do further investigations as Des mentioned? Seeing as the bloods were inconclusive and I'm presuming they havent done x-rays or scans? They seem to be relying just on physical examination which can't give a conclusive diagnosis I wouldnt have thought.

Well the vets spoke to me today and ask me to take Bungly down and have a talk and check her over.
The test results were inconclusive -but he had another feel of her and she has a large mass in her liver .
They cannot do chemo or operate . He has given her durectics (spelling!?) and steroids to try and stop growth -but in all honesty the outlook is bad .
I don''t know how long she has but she is not likely to see this summer/autumn out .
I am absolutely gutted and still in shock -i really thought he could do something even though deep down he couldn''t .
I am just taking each day with her and she how she goes .
All i can think about is how as she got this !?

It's what I'm having to learn as well - you treat the cat, not just what the bloods (etc) say, but that sounds like she is feeling well. Imho cats don't bother cleaning themselves when they are feeling grot so let's hope for the best when the results come back and for Bungly's future

You must take up your mini-break in London! I'm sure you can find someone (if not the neighbour, who sounds great) who can give Smartie and pill and make sure you can go away and relax and enjoy yourself- congrats on winning!

Well - after all this waiting the results aren''t back yet !!!
Bungly is eating well, been playing with leaves outside and has cleaned herself up and seems really happy -hard to believe she has this wrong with her .
Will post tomorrow as i should definately have heard by then .
To add a good news to this thread- i have won a competition for a 2 night stay in London at a posh Hotel in Mayfair with breakfast and evening meal and a bottle of wine each night for myself and a partner !? ( not got one !) also £250 spending money and 6 bottles of Black Tower wine .  It can be taken up to November 2009 .
That was a very nice suprise and the biggest thing i have ever won - only thing is i keep wondering if i can go as i have never left the cats more than 1 night and how Bungly will be at the time !?  I do have someone who lives across the road who loves the cats and will happi;ly feed and do trays for me .Its just Smartie has to have his tablets every day as well .

Fingers crossed your vet is wrong with his diagnosis, my vet suspected FIP cos of Tig's blood results, so if her bloods are normal apart from liver, hopefully it wont be that. Also, if there aren't a lot of abnormal liver cells, hopefully that means it isn't too serious, and the fact she is still eating is good. Liver issues can cause a fluid build up, so that isn't necessarily from FIP.
Please spay your cat
