Oh - and slightly off topic, a message for Mark in Canterbury... if you have nothing better to do on Thursday evening (1st Oct), the folks said see you at the Cricketers... opposite Subways... whatever that means!  (I do believe it may be a public house, and that our human of the male variety will be making an utter fool of himself on his drum kit that evening - I despair, I really do).
Right! That's it! I am delivering no more messages until one or other of our folks get their own posting account!  OK, I feel better now.

Thanks for the invite but Thursday night is a no no for me as I have 2 long days at college Thursday & Friday so with the travelling to & from Hadlow etc doesn't leave me a lot of time. (I'm in Whitstable so it would mean another 15 mile round trip into Canterbury)

Thanks anyway and hopefully the next time  :)

Parking very close say within 50yards will be very important to some, do you think this can be achieved Christine or will you please give me a piggy back

There are spaces right opposite and the pub has a loading bay outside the front door which can be used as a drop-off point.

Anyone going down that way from the Yorkshire area?

I think it's a great idea to arrange lifts together (on this thread?).

is there anywhere to park?

Yes, you can park free all round the green.  Also anyone staying at the Coach and Horses (another little hotel on Kew Green) or the Kew Bridge Travelodge can park there.

aaah I was trying to place it around the green by the greyhound or ask

Is the Greyhound the pub up near Kew Bridge?  If so, it's on the opposite side of the green.

To put it another way, it's on the bottom right hand corner if you're standing on Kew Green facing Kew Bridge.

I can't do points of the compass!!  :evillaugh:

OK, if Kew Green has the bridge at the top, Kew Gardens' side wall on the left hand side and the main road on the right hand side, The Botanist is at the bottom (nearest to Richmond).

CAT CHAT PARTY NEWS - DATE & VENUE now CONFIRMED!!!

We can now announce the date and venue for the Cat Chat 10th Anniversary Party in 2010... be there or be ummmm, not there!
The finer details are still to be arranged, but here's what we know so far...

Event Date:
Saturday 22nd May 2010

Party Venue:
The Botanist at Kew,
3 - 5 Kew Green, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 3AA
http://www.thebotanistkew.com

Facilities:
The Botanist is fully wheelchair friendly. Vegetarians will be fully catered for.

Ticket Price (not on sale yet!)
Likely to be £17.50 (definitely under £20 though)

Other points of Interest:
1.  The Botanist is right next to Kew Gardens, so if you are making a weekend of it, that could be very convenient!
2.  Also, interested party guests will be have the opportunity of a tour of Kitten to Cat Veterinary Clinic, also close to the venue in Kew (one of only a handful of cat-only vets in the country).  Two of the vets there are voluntary advisers to Cat Chat, and they are very kindly offering any interested guests to have a tour of the clinic, on the afternoon of the party, (more details of that to follow).

Christine (blip) is helping to co-ordinate the event (thanks Christine!) and she is happy to answer any questions by PM, or here on Purrs or via the party2010 email address. (We don't know much more at the moment than what's here though!).

If you didn't email the party2010 mailbox before and you think you'd like to go, then you can still register your interest there (party2010@catchat.org), but don't worry if you are not sure yet or if you forget, as we'll post back here when the tickets go on sale.

The Cat Chat Party will be the hottest ticket in town in 2010... trust me, I'm a tabby!

I seem to have volunteered to help organise this party

So, a little reminder please:

WANT TO JOIN US??? HERE’S WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO....

(1) Please email us at: party2010@catchat.org ONLY if you are fairly certain you will want to come...
(2) and, let us know how many tickets you are likely to want.

There is no commitment whatsoever at this stage, we just need to get a good idea of numbers of guests, as this will allow us to get the right size venue. So if you are pretty certain you will come, let us know how many tickets you are likely to want by Emailing: party2010@catchat.org

Also, if anyone is able to help us in any way with this event, whether that be with regard to the venue, catering, or in any way at all, please say, all help appreciated!

This is very exciting and I'm certainly going to go and will stay overnight. It will be great to meet up with loads of Purrs peeps. I'm going from the North East but will be doing the journey by train as it's only 3 hours and if I book early enough I can get resonably cheap tickets. Am too excited now (you can tell I don't get out much can't you   )

A note to Mark in Canterbury... yes, you're right, we couldn't really have it in Ramsgate, but we will be drawing the 2009 Christmas Raffle in Ramsgate, so you are more than welcome to come along to that if you like, and help us draw the winners!?!? Oh go on, you know you want to!

Hello!!!

Well, the party2010 mailbox is filling up nicely, looks like it's going to be the Event of the Year!     Just so that everyone knows, we won't be replying to all the emails just yet, at this stage as we are still mailing out to find out guest numbers, so we'll give it a couple of weeks and then have a count up, and see how big this thing is going to be, and then start deciding on a venue!
It's great that so many people are coming from away and staying over, the folks will be staying up in London too I gather (I really must make them get their own posting account!), so the after-party-party should be fun too!

Does anyone here work for a hotel chain??  We were thinking we might ask if one of the hotels would do us some special charity room rates!!

Keep those emails coming!!! (but only if you are fairly sure you want to come) to here:  party2010@catchat.org

At least in Woking its a 27 minute train journey to Waterloo, so really easy to get to as and when you want to visit  :wow:

1.20 to 1.30 from here depending on the number of stops. I have to say that I do more here than I ever did in London - partly due to being able to drive to places. It wasn't practical to have a car in London and I wasn't comfortable being out at night in certain areas - such as where I lived  :evillaugh: - I still haven't got used to the novelty of being able to be in various seaside towns in under 1/2 hour or walk around the corner to the beach. I love Canterbury and never get tired of it. We also have decent shops there so no hardship. If there is ever a show I want to see (unlikely as I hate musicals  :evillaugh: ) I know I can jump on the train.

When I saw the Catchat announcement, I guessed what it would be but realised it was unlikely to be in Ramsgate (1/2 hour max in the car) where they are based.  :evillaugh:

Have to say the idea of living in London has never appealed to me either, its sooo busy, traffic everywhere, think it would drive me round the bend.
