I just read this poem on the Paws4Life website and wanted to share it. It sums Truman up, I think.
BORROWED TIME
He sits by the window and gazes outside,
He will not be with us for long.
He once was a young tommy, bursting with pride,
But now he is no longer strong.
He once had a coat that was shiny and thick,
It's now dull, and starey, and thin.
His liver's not perfect, his kidneys are sick,
His life, though, is precious to him.
The vet thought he should have been dead months ago,
His lifespan is over, it seems.
Yet he loves each moment, enjoying the show,
And he is still young in his dreams.
