What beautiful eyes and looking at you as you tickled her under her chin, with such love and pleasure, Philip. I hope you can take some comfort from the photos as they are wonderful

all these lovely photos you have, Phillip, would make a great memorial folder for Maddy, which hopefully one day you could look through with a happier heart than you have at the moment

After my earlier posts yesterday, Maddy had a good few hours, so following discussion with my vet, I changed the appointment to today.

Yesterday she ate quite a lot and was enjoying a good fuss, so I knew it was OK to spend a few more hours with her. She was settled and you could see in her eyes that she wasn't in pain. So the appointment was made for 17:15 today.

So I was able to say my goodbyes and give her a good cuddle today. I took her in and she passed away gently within a minute of the injection. My vet left me with my baby for a while. She is now at peace.

I feel really numb right now. Its like whats just happened really hasn't happened. I'm waiting for it to hit me.

Rest in peace my Special baby. Daddy will always love you.

I am so very sorry Philip and am thinking of you. 9 is way too young as you say, but she had 9 years of love and care with you

Sadly I have only had 3 years with her as I rescued her when she was 6. If I had her from a kitten today wouldn't be happening. Because I would have looked after her teeth so she wouldn't have developed the severe infection that travelled to her kidneys causing pyelnephritis and irreversible damage. This makes it so much harder today. This was avoidable. I picked up the pieces, gave her a loving home and now face the consequences of others lack of care towards her. In no way did I expect this to be happening when I rescued her. I knew her being a pedigree might mean she doesn't live as long as a moggy, but this is just wrong.

I made her a fish soup last night and went to bed and found this morning that half was gone (which was nice). She even purred when I stroked her.

But she has been incontinent as her bum and tail were sopping wet and the smell was unmistakable. I think that makes the decision a little easier for me in the fact that I can't allow her to be like that. I just cant.

I have made an appointment for 17:15. The last appointment was taken which I wanted so it didn't need to be rushed and now I will end up running out the door crying in front of other people I don't know.

Please pray that Maddy makes it safely to the rainbow bridge.
