Pippin not eating properly, Any ideas? She has been to vets

went back to the vets yesterday temperature back too normall, today she has been eating fine and is totally back to herself which is great  for the advice everyone

Maybe she just needs small and often for a few days while she gets over the bug?

she only goes out in our garden with us as we are currently saving up to have it cat-proofed, Oh isnt feeding her anything as i made sure of this.

I do think she is eating something when im not looking as whilst i was at work the other day oh had a day off and said she was in the kitchen eating,

Today she has ate half a pouch for breakfast half a pouch at lunch and another half at tea time so done quite well,
i also think her tummy may have shrunk as she can manage half a pouch fine

If her white blood cells are raised, it could be that she is still battling an infection and just needs longer/stronger ab's, I certainly wouldnt rush to a behaviourist.

Does she go outside? She may be eating more than you think. Do you have an OH who could be giving her treats which he/she doesn't realise are full of calories?

I know of another case of the mysteriously not-eating-much cat who gained weight. He was being fed by neighbours and catching birds, it also transpired that the husband was giving this cat munchies and dismissing this as not really food!

While it's wise to have her health thoroughly checked, try to find out if she's eating when you aren't aware of it.

the vet also said that the high temperature could be due to the stress of the vets but i do think she has a virus of some sort the vet did suggest that maybe she has a bacterial infection lurking somewhere,

i have booked her an appointment for monday at the same practice but with michelle she is really lovely and speciallises in feline care and has been really helpfull and understanding in the past,

ive got a claim form from axa should i leave it untill she has been again on monday?

meant too add she did have blood tests and her white cell count was slightly high she was given some ketofen antibiotics (think thats what they were called)
she hasn't lost any weight at all she actually weighs 25g more than when she last visited the vets,

yesterday she ate really well but today she is being picky again which she never used too be like,
she did seem rather miserable but today she has been chasing the lazer light around like crazy and looks a lot brighter in herself they gave me a copy of te blood test results and explained them all and everything was fine except for the white blood cell count

I agree with Janey and would have expected to give some antibiotics.....maybe a convenia jab which lasts for two weeks although sems to take a couple of days to work.

I dont think behavoirist will be able to solve a raised temperature!

Do you have another vets that are nice that you could get a second opinion from?

Have they not done blood/urine tests Zoe? this would show whether her white blood count is high and indicate an infection somewhere plus other things.  If she still has a high temperature she can't be right yet,  she is eating but is she eating much less than normal and has she lost weight? I would press the vet to do some blood tests and check her healthwise before seeing a behaviourist if I were you.

As she has a high temp i wouldnt go for the behaviourial just yet, she could be fighting off a virus. I hope shes back to normal soon

a fortnight ago i took pippin to the vets as she hadn't been eating properly they checked her all over and her gums were slightly inflamed so they gave her some antibiotics and a rimadyl injection, she then started eating properly for a few days and then stopped again,
she went back to the vets last wednesday and her gums are better so they took some bloods and they came back fine her temperature is just slightly high she had another injection and i was told to go back in a week,

i took her back again yesterday (she still isn't eating properly but is eating about 150g of meat a day) they cant find anything else wrong with her temperature still slightly high they suggested testing for fiv/felv but he did say that it is very unlikely and its up to me if i have her tested or not (unlike the other vet who tried too force me too have tiggy tested)

She has too go back again next Tuesday the only other thing the vet can suggest is it is behavioural and i could see the behaviour specialist there or too try different foods which i have been doing already.

Any ideas/suggestions are very welcome
