Interferon can help with gums, as far as I remember it is injected into the gums, and is quite expensive. Shame she doesn' eat wet, as Classic cat food does work well for gingivitis, it calmed SAm's mouth down within days (only problem is he gets bored of it easily!!)

she went back for a check last night, she is doing ok but the next step if it doesn't work is interferon apparently - do idea what they are so need to do some digging

the vet said "she looks like and angel but was all claws and teeth"!!!! ooops

well I got another 12 pouches from the vet, but predictably she has now decided she doesn't like it anymore and has gone back to her rc light (well remembered Mark!!) she is fine though, grooming and scent marking everything with her cheeks so not too sore I assume - Amber has taken a fancy to the new pouches though so they won't go to waste - I was so worried JS, I don't know why but I just had a bad feeling about her having a ga but you honestly wouldn't know anything had happened even when I picked her up on Thursday

Bit nervous about reading dental threads because Sprattleys (Jack) got one on the 1st June and I'm really freaked out. He suffers severe rhinitis and the op has had to be postponed until now.

Sensitivity isnt like a/d so wont make her porky

Just saw this Dawn. Glad Star is OK and eating OK. I wouldn't worry too much just yet about eating wrong food as she's still recovering. Hopefully she will play ball later when you change her food back but for now it's great that she's doing so well

I think the problem is Star is slightly big-boned and isn't a/d quite fattening? - I think Dawn had been giving her RC light recently.

Its just a chicken rice based pouch so if she likes it i cant see it being a problem to feed her longterm, lots of ibs cats eat it all the time

thanks everyone, yes she seems fine - she slept in oh wardrobe for a bit last night (he is away so what can you expect!) but now I'm in a bit of a tizz over the food, I've only got two more of the sensitvity pouches - what if she has decided she really likes them???? and would it be good long term anyway - she is a creature of habit, not touched anything but a hills or rc kibble since she came to me nearly four years ago

. Clapton usually takes a few days to completely recover. Luckily he doesn't have any left to come out now

she is doing ok and I nearly fainted this morning but she ate the recovery food they gave her, the first time I've ever seen her eat wet food!

and for once my vet wasn't too bad on price £118 (although the first time they put it in the machine as £1118!)

the vet has phoned, they had to take out 4 teeth at the back, nothing wrong with them but the gums are very sore, she said she hopes everything should settle down now

Star can't be pilled - she has an abused background and totally freaks out if you try and do anything like that so thankfully is having the two week ab jab - poor baby

Try not to worry, I've put 2 cats through dental and they recovered surprisingly fast

. Sassy went in for dental on Tuesday and came back ravenous! She had some lamb chopped up really tiny for dinner and since then shes been eating dry food little & often. She was sick this morning but I think its because Matt gave her the first antibiotic capsule and her throat was still sore from the tube they used during surgery, poor girl has been prodded and poked enough and then we go and put a massive, human-sized capsule down there too

She has four more daily capsules to go and the vet check-up is tomorrow morning

Ollie was eating his normal food once he got home and soon started on the dry, so Star my eat dry straight away

Ollie had never even tried to eat dry before his teeth out.

they've told me to feed her chicken and rice tonight - that should be interesting as she is a dry food addict - she was starving this morning though so you never know
