I haven't got them  :( I only offered that if the worst came to the worst, I would take them

only found this out yesterday, Good news!! these two elderly ladies will have a forever home  :wow: ( just not with Me  :( )
Jan could not get hold of the woman who was mentioned in the letter, but has been in touch with a retired lady, who is more
than willing to give these two their Forever home  :Luv:
So glad that everything has worked out for these two, and although I feel slightly disappointed that they wont be coming to
stay with me ( some things just ain't meant to happen ) But it now means that I will be able to take on two other needy furbabes
who deserve some TLC and give them that illusive forever home  :)

Hope these two can get a nice quiet home for the rest of their lives cos they must be heartbroken to lose their owner.

Yes Gill, The Male Friend found the Lady sitting in Her chair when He went round " He did say to Jan that the Cat's were in a Bit of a state, Upset " when He went in  :(

Ok, a wee bit more Info, they're both Girl's ( Sister's) still haven't got their names
My Sister is poorly just now ( Flu), but she says she will Iether phone Jan, or phone Me with Jans Number for finding out if there is a time limit

I'll update as soon as I know

I think you a right Stuart and other advice also to take your time until you are ready. Trouble is sometimes its hard to know and I could not stand the missing sound of velvet paws even for a few days.....then ended up with elephants on the stairs  ;D

I'm just off the Phone with My sister, and have some more Information
The Cats are both 15 yrs old, don't know if they are Boys or Girls or what colour they are ??

The Lady who passed away was 71 and absolutely doted on Her Cats, Sister told me in the Past, when Lady
moved House she has had Her previous cats who were buried in the garden, dug up so she could take them
with Her to the new House

The lady was Jan's Mother's Cousin, they are currently being cared for at the House, by a male friend of the
Lady's who goes round and feeds them, till a new Slave can be found ( He cant take them Either  :( )

Slightly out with their location, they are not in London, they are in the IPSWITCH area
They are still staying in the House ( Because Jan has 4 of Her own )

One usually goes out for 5 Min's then comes back inside, the other doesn't bother ( Just stays in )
as you can imagine at that age they are probably sleeping most of the time, and would not be too much trouble
to look after

I feel so sad for these Pensioners and the predicament they are in right now :(

That's why I am sending out this appeal to see if any of you Purrs People can Help ??
if there is anyone in the IPSWITCH area who feel if they can Help
Do not Hesitate to contact me by PM etc,etc

Regards Stuart.........

I firmly believe when choosing a pet - 'if in doubt, don't'. Clearly you are uncertain about this decision so I would give myself time to think through the full range of issues here - and distance is a big one if they are older cats (says she who has just shipped her two half way round the world, but you know what I mean). There will be a right time and a right cat for you - give yourselves time to be ready to open your hearts to someone who needs you most ...

The distance is definitely an issue if they're old timers. If it's too soon for you, that's fine; people respond to loss in different ways. And the sad fact is, that unless by some miracle people suddenly all neuter or spay, they'll always be a furball needing a home.

it would be long trek for them Stuart - I know that when we lost Bluto - a feral kitten oh had handreared - at the age of 14 we couldn't stand the quiet and rushed out to rehome two more but everyone is different and you shouldn't be rushed if you really aren't ready

Aw Stuart its a sad situation on both sides but you cant change the world alone!

You will know when the time is right and it should be on your (and OH's) decision alone!  ;)

Im not saying dont get these cats Stu but if you have any inner niggle then I would hang fire for a while....

you are a long long way away, so I think you should feel totally justified in saying no on that ground alone

I'm sure before too long another needy cat will pop up nearer home - maybe try fostering a couple to see how it goes - that would satisfy your need to have a furry to care for but without the commitment unless you want to make it

« Reply #1 on: April 20, 2009, 00:41:34 AM »
My sister phoned today
She'd received a txt from Her friend saying that a member in Her family had passed away, leaving 2 elderly cats with no slave to look after them  :(
She ( Jan ) has got them just now, but as she has already got 4 rescue's of her own, she cannot keep them, and thought of me...
I am Torn  :scared: ......... I have spoken about it with OH, and she Say's NO!!! it is still too early

a few problems, not sure if the are indoor cats, and they are currently down in London ( they may get quite stressed if they travelled up here )
also sister is not sure of their ages, thinks maybe 10 yrs old??

I have asked her to find out how old they are? but at the same time I am feeling hesitant about committing  :(
I Feel so Torn :( there are sooo many poor furbabes out there that deserve a loving home ( way Far too Many  :'( )
But I don't want to go through the Hurt of getting attached then losing them, but right now, this house is Far Too Quiet and Empty without
the sounds of Velvet Paws padding about..

I don't know what to do  :(
