Haha, I'm thinking 5 myself for some reason. What's the prize for this sweepstake?

She's still not eating. She's just laid about all day. She's bright enough and purrs away as usual when I stroke her, but just very lazy and fed-up looking.

Phew so pleased everything is OK with mum and babies (and no need for you to keep sniffing her now  ).

Seeing as we're having a sweep I'll go for 5 kittens between midnight and 6am Wednesday morning.

Big hugs to you and Jasmine.

I was just charged for the basic consulation. That's mainly why I was panicking because I didn't have much money on me. I'm not sure why I wasn't charged for it, but I'm glad I wasn't  ;D

the actual usage of scans shouldnt be too expensive but the vet has to recoup the initial expense of it which i should imagine is quite scary since i know what all the blood vet tests machines used to cost.

good on your vet for not charging, maybe they felt guilty about being misguided in the first place

I was joking about the picture, I doubt they'd have a printer for it  :evillaugh:  Would have been a nice souvenir though!

Did they charge you anything at all for the visit?  Apparently scans are quite expensive, my friend has got a female lab and while she was in season they lost sight of her for 10 seconds and were worried that she may have been pounced upon.  She rang the vets to ask about having a scan, can't remember how much it was but it was enough to put my friend off from having it done! The dog has since been spayed and there were no babies!

Haha, could I have gotten a picture? I didn't ask, but he didn't even charge me anything so I'm glad I didn't ask about a pic or he might've.

 Nooooo, shouldn't be another 5 weeks. If there's nothing by next Monday I'll take her back again. It was so cool to see them on the scan, could see the heartbeats and them moving around, then from the back I could see their little spines  :Luv:

Haha, what does the sweepstake involve?

How odd for the first vet to have been sooooo off with the estimation but the scan is proof of the pudding.

we should start a sweepstake now

Phew!  :)

Well, I got an appointment at 9.10 and took her. Told him what the last vet told me about how soon they'd be born, and he looked a bit confused and said they can't tell exactly when a cat's due, but it's unusual to be so out with the estimation.
He checked her temperature, heart, and gums and said all was normal. Listened to her belly, and I said I'd felt the kittens move, he asked how recently and I told him yesterday.
I nearly dropped because he said he'd give her a scan. He had to shave a little patch on her tummy and we went into the scanning room.
All's fine! All the kittens are alive and appear to be perfectly healthy. I saw all the heartbeats and them moving on the screen. He said there's a large number for a cat of her size, but he couldn't say an exact number because the way the scan is he could count the same one twice and get it wrong.
He said it's quite normal for them to lose their appetite a bit, and vomit little bits in those last few days because there's no room in there.

And finally, he said there's no cause for concern with her, colour, temperature and heart is all normal, kittens are fine. So I asked him again when to expect them. He said he didn't want to panic me but it's imminent now. Anytime in the next couple of days.

I feel soooo much better now.

Oh, also, I asked him if he thought she'd have any trouble with birthing and he said it's very rare for a cat to have problems. He's been a vet for 9 years and has only performed 2 caesareans.

Thanks so much for your good wishes, everyone :)

She's not well this morning. Her body feels very warm, didn't touch her breakfast and she's bringing up mouthfuls of white foamy stuff. Just rang the vets to say she needs to be seen quickly and they've told me to ring back at 8.50. Fingers crossed they'll say I can bring her over then  :scared:

  poor baby ... I have visions of you following her round and sniffing her to see if she smells!!  Sorry shouldn't laugh.  If she is eating, drinking and playing happily which she seems to be then I wouldn't worry too much about her and hopefully Mr Vet will be able to get to the bottom of the "kitten delay" tomorrow.

Please keep us informed and hope it all goes well :)

Thanks, everyone.

I'm phoning the vets first thing in the morning and I'm praying they can take her asap.
I was just tidying up the kitchen and she was chasing a red nose round the floor, she's bright as a button, and still eating well. She had her tail up earlier and I was looking for any sign of discharge and can't see anything, she still doesn't smell. I'm worried sick here, but hopefully everything will be fine.
