Did you notice there are 2 different variety boxes of Felix senior pouches?

One is Beef, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey
The other Rabbit, Lamb, salon, trout

There is also a foil mixed box but not sure what the flavours are.

I haven't been able to find a box with both beef and tuna in it.  All I've seen are Beef, Chicken, Turkey and Salmon and another one which contains Tuna but I can't remember what else.  I haven't seen the foils at all but I did know they exist.

Sorry I think I got them mixed up.

it's
Lamb, Rabbit, Tuna, Trout
Beef, turkey, salmon, chicken

I have seen 400gram cans of felix senior in Sainsbury's but not sure of flavours.

Edit - Just checked - Beef, Chicken & Tuna.

Carol, I know my local Tesco does both of the Felix boxes and the foil trays, but Morrisons and ASda only do one of them - if you struggle, let me know, I can get some for you and meet up with you somewhere? Am sure there is a fishy one in the foils, but I dont have any in at the moment. As good as it looks and Oh So also come in Senior varieties, they might be worth looking at? Zi is fussy with senior food but seems to like Felix over Whiskas. Am sure a local rescue would take the unwanted senior off your hands.

Good thinking Bazsmum and Clare.  I'll try that. I know from previous experience that Korky isn't all that keen on the fishy flavours other than Tuna but he will (usually) still eat the RC renal Tuna unadulterated so perhaps I'll just buy the meaty Felix

I mix beef in with rabbit flavour foods, all sorts, there's only been one or two combinations Max has ignored lol  :evillaugh:

I also mix the tuna in with any fishy flavours and they still get eaten  :evillaugh:

Good luck

Thanks all for the suggestions folks.  I tried him with a Felix senior pouch and he practically ate the bowl as well as the food then spent the rest of the  day  looking beseechingly at me every time I went into the kitchen so I think I've proved that he's not actually lost his appetite - he's just bored with his food.
I'm now trying Clare's idea of mixing his renal food with the same flavour of Senior and its working well.  The only problem is his renal food is either beef or tuna and I only seem to be able to get the Felix senior in variety packs so I'm accumulating a lot of unwanted flavours.

After having real issues finding a renal food Monty will eat, we have finally had success. He will eat the KD pouches but without enthusiasm but RC have just bought out a new tuna flavour of renal food pouches which he LOVES! Even Jasper thinks it smells good and tries to eat it rather than his food.

Rosie didn't like the Hills or RC renal food, but she did like the Integra from Zooplus, and you only have to buy 6 foil trays.

As for dry, they love Hill's K/D - in fact Kylie who doesn't have CRF prefers it to her regular dry and goes looking for it

Max will eat RC renal, but only if I mix the same flavour of normal 'senior' food in with it.  He also has renal biscuits all the time.

Some days he will turn his nose up at the renal/senior mixture, so I just give him senior or Natures Menu (whatever his mood may be!) with the phospherus powder mixed in.

We're due for repeat bloods again in the next couple of weeks, so it will be interesting to see how his levels are doing  :)

Max has a similar problem in that he won't eat renal food. The vet said to first try all the senior prescription foods to see if he would eat one of them. He eats RC senior dry and Hills senior turkey pate (there is also a chicken one). The senior foods are generally 0.6g in phosphate as opposed to 0.35- 4 for the renal foods, whereas even the best of the commercial foods is higher than that, so you'd have to add aluminium phosphate as a binder (which they don't always like and it can cause constipation). Tanya's CRF site has a list of phosphorus in come of the "ordinary" foods although it may now be out of date as new lines have been introduced since it was drawn up.

I used to feed the Felix senior in the alutrays as they had a really low phosphorous level.  Tiggy was happy with those for several months but then went on hunger strike for her Gourmet Pearl to be reinstated!  I then fed Gourmet Pearl but used a phosphorous binder, Alu-caps, sprinkled on the top.

Clapton eats mainly Felix and Whiskas senior. There is a lot of choice with flavours now so no problems there. AFAIK, Senior food phosphorus-wise is midway between renal and regular food - I couldn't get Clapton to eat any renal food so this is a good compromise. I have some Ipakitine to try on his food. I paid £17 for a tube of Renalzin but he refuses point-blank to eat any food with it mixed in  :tired:

Korky has always been a 'good' eater and since diagnosed with CRF over 2 years ago he has had Royal Canin wet pouches, supplemented by occasional small treats of good 'human' protein like chicken or lean beef but avoiding things high in phosphate like shellfish or sardines.  Although his creatinine levels have worsened over this period his phosphate, potassium and electrolytes in general are still well within normal ranges so I think this food has achieved its objectives.  Recently, however, he seems to be getting more picky.  He still has a good appetite and he will eat the RC but not with his usual gusto and the amount of begging he does for treats is increasing so I think its time I started looking around for alternatives.  I did try the Hills renal when he was first diagnosed but he didn't like it so I think it will need to be 'ordinary ' food, possibly in conjunction with a phophate binder.
I've been reading the other thread thats running at the moment about feeding and, as the poster says, there is a bewildering array of choice.  Obviously it comes down to what he will eat and I realise that may change as his condition progresses but where do I start?  I've checked out the food tables on the felinecrf site (obviously I'm still concerned about phosphate) but they seem to be a bit out of date now with brands. Are most of the brands mentioned on the other thread available in the shops?  I don't want to buy more than a couple of tins at a time of any new brand in case he doesn't like it and since he's been on the same food for ages I don't want to introduce lots of different things all at once so its going to be a slow process.  He doesn't like smooth pate-style foods and prefers red meat to chicken or fish (unless its 'human' chicken or tuna).
