Hello to everyone .... I recently found this forum when looking for info about FELV.
We have 2 cats .... Milo (male) and Poppy (female) and they are 8 months old.
We took them on as kittens .... they were just 8 weeks old. We got them booked in at the vets and had all thier injections etc done by the book. Everything was going fine, or so we thought, until recently when Poppy took ill. At first, the vet thought she just had a body infection. All her glands / lymph nodes were swollen. She was given a slow release antibiotic and pain killers that lasted for a week. During that week she didn't seem to get any worse ... but she didn't seem to be getting any better either, and come the weekend, she appeared to be going down hill. So I took her back to the vets on the monday, and it was then that the vet suspected FELV ..... She tested her there and then, and as expected, the test was positive
We also had Milo tested this week, sadly he tested positive too, but he is otherwise fit and well.
Poppy is struggling at the moment .... She's on her 2nd steroid injection and we are just taking it one day at a time to see how things go.
