SHE'S BEEN CHOSEN!!!!!

She was so lovely and the couple are just fantastic! She is now having a sniff around the living room whilst Katie is asleep in the airing cupboard. She'll be going at the weekend and i'm really pleased. Although she's a little sweetie at the end of the day I was only ever looking after her and in her new home she'll have a 3 bed house to play in and a playmate who is a year old male and really friendly. She'll be kept as an indoor cat and therefore won't have to worry about cars and the like!

Home visit done and really positive so hopefully they're going to call me asap to see her!

She's started to come out of herself and mew and purr and we had a breakthrough in her climbing onto my lap. I know she'll be shy when the people come to see her, but hopefully they will see past that!

Fingers crossed!

As Katie doesn't like other cats very much, ypu have to consider her, and you can definitely help more cats by being an emergency fosterer - it is one of the reasons I dont keep a lot of mine, I would hate to be in a position where a cat would suffer cos I had kept a cat that was perfectly homeable.

Uh-Oh! I think i'm falling  :Luv2:

Bella stayed pretty quiet yesterday and hadn't pooed yet, but as soon as I turned the light out, she came out and had some food, did a poo and curled up next to me all night  :Luv2:

I don't plan on being a permanant fosterer as I don't think it's fair on Katie to have different cats in her territory all the time. She got in Bella's room yesterday though and just sniffed, froze when she saw her and walked out! I was expecting fur flying etc, but she seemed ok......... The dilemma is whether I could help many more cats by being an emergency fosterer? Although I was the one who origionally brought Bella into the branch as she was being sold on ***tree..... oh no  :evillaugh:

Aww she is lovely, and good luck for the homecheck - it is probably a good thing that there is a potential home lined up, means you cant get too attached.

Well done on trying out fostering, She looks like a lovely cat to get you started :) Just don't do what I did... I kept my one and only foster cat and found out that I can't foster as I will want to keep every one! hehe.

Just be patient with her and I am sure you will be a fantastic fosterer

Thanks you guys!

I'm expecting not to get much sleep tonight, but I wasn't having her go back to a home where she so clearly wasn't wanted.

The new arrivals are where an old man has just let things get out of hand (not a nasty person, just ignorant and not coping). They're covered in their own filth and we don't really know what we've got yet - they're in the middle of the rescue at the moment so fingers crossed they'll be ok.

We're actually doing a home visit for Jamelia at the weekend so fingers crossed - it's a lovely indoor home (she's never been outside) with a young couple who have just taken in a 1 year old who had a car accident so has to be indoors aswell... I'll just get used to having her around and then we'll re-home her!!!

She'll have had her op today and so i'm guessing she'll just want to sleep - is that right?

I wouldnt bank on it LOL! - my Gwynnie was bouncing off the walls when she came back from her op  :evillaugh: high as a kite!

Anyway, good luck, I'm sure everything will be fine

Good luck it sounds like you're ready. :)

oooh good luck, I'd just let her go at her own pace, she might be a bit nervous depending on how her previous people (I use the term loosely) treated her - can't wait to hear more about them!

Eeek - my first foster cat - SHE'S BEEN CHOSEN!!!
« Reply #1 on: March 27, 2009, 13:29:45 PM »
Oooh i'm excited (and a little nervous) as my first foster cat is arriving soon!!!

I don't normally foster as we live in a one bed flat with a tortie who hates all other cats, but we're just doing a rescue of 5 cats and 5 kittens living in squalor and we just CAN'T leave them where they are. They'll all be in the vets as we've no space and so my welfare officer has asked if I can take Jamelia in for a few days!

She's a little 10 month old girl who the people were trying to get rid of on ***tree and they'd already been approached by a breeder so I stepped in and sadi we've neuter, but they don't want her back - they called her 'it's and said that they just wanted rid of her  :-[

OK so i've set up the bedroom with a litter tray, food, toys and Katie's carrier so she can hide. She'll have had her op today and so i'm guessing she'll just want to sleep - is that right?

I'm going to sleep in that room with her and then my b/f will sleep on the sofa so that Katie doesn't get lonely..

I'm going to leave her to settle for a few hours, but after that should I encourage her out or what.....???!!!

Any suggestions?

PS: I'll post pics later!

She's here! Introducing Bella......
