I agree, I asked my vet and she told me not to bath Schui as it would have been too distressing for him and just to use wipes but they aren't always enough are they? I struggled with them too

He so reminds me of Schui he was older when we adopted but always suffered with his health poor boy, always some affliction.  I can understand how you must feel about your other cats it is very sad but you know it wasn't his fault how things turned out  He is a lucky boy to have you caring for him and he knows that and he sounds a little fighter and enjoying his time with you.  It's obvious you do love him dearly and will be there for him  I hope you and your vet can sort things out for him.

Yes other than his mouth, he is fine. He can still jump onto high surfaces and likes to go out back when its sunny  :Luv2: The wee man will be 5 in July. But he has suffered with this since being 6 months old

He didnt have a very good start in life, I got him when he was 4 weeks old not even weened, I had to ween him myself!  >:( I was told he was 9 weeks and eating  :tired: He was offered to a neighbour and she didnt take him cos he had runny eyes and didnt look too well, so she was worried for her other cats.

I got Ollie he was infested with fleas but didnt have the sticky eyes then. Within a week my cats were ill, 2 weeks later my beautiful little girl Renie was dead  :'(

There is so much spinning around in my head, the painfull memories still haunt me. From saving one life, I had sacrificed another  :(

I was looking after my aunts kitten at the time  and she also got very ill, we nearly lost her too.

So much a do about Ollie really and even though I hate myself for bringing illness to my cats, I couldnt of just left the little fella where he was. He would certainly not be alive to this day.

He has been tested for FIV/ FILV  but I really that it may be that conrea (sp)  virus he has

I just love him so much and really dont want to loose him, he has been fighting all of his short life, and I just want a better life for him, he deserves it!

Poor boy  have a chat with your vet, when I was given antirobe for Byron I asked my vet what if she couldn't tolerate them as often my can't tolerate abs so I've found and she said well this is really good but there are other options.  Maybe Ollie needs a different med for his condition, do pursue this if he seems otherwise fine as he's only young isn't he?

It's so difficult - I think quality of life is really important. Does Ollie seem happy despite all the problems he has? Sometimes cats can give pretty clear signals.

Im going to phone the vets tomorrow or maybe take him cos he's meant to go back on Tuesday anyway.

He has had this in the past but nothing like this, its constant! Its also got a lot worse since he's been getting the Antirobe, which the vet asked was it worse with that. I gave him one does of the Antirobe and it started to go green again, so didnt bother with the rest.

Yes Jack Ollie is my little one thats never had any peace from this condition. Im really starting to think this is the beginning of the end for him  :( He's not getting any better and his mouth just seems to be getting worse. But he's still eating, going outside for the odd 10 mins so I really dont know what to do for the best, the best for him may I add.

I will see what the vet says tomorrow, although he may still be ok within himself I cant let him continue in this state.

I used damp kitchen roll or baby wipes and the stuff still dont budge. I really think he's gonna need a full bath. His fur is like he's had a sticky lolly stuck to it and its hard and not very nice looking to be honest. Makes me feel sad for the wee man.

I know what you mean it's not easy to get off, Schuis was the same drooling and snot over him.  I used to wipe then rub it together - it wasn't at all easy and extra water was often needed and then brush/comb - which was difficult on his feet! sometimes I had to cut little bits of hard fur off.  If you can keep up to wiping them on and off through the day it's not bad but even then you have the night and it soon hardens on

Id opt for a damp flannel rather than upset him with a full bath, you can get pet wipes for regular use. I would also phone the vet on monday, he shouldnt be salivating so much

aww, our Schui was like that until he had all his teeth out then he suffered with his sinuses and his nose dribbled all over his fur and he couldn't groom.  He was quite a dirty cat and I used to help him because it can't feel nice so as he was an old boy and not well I just used to use baby wipes, sometimes had to dampen them a bit more because it used to harden on throught the day wasn't bad but if it happened during the night it was all matted on his fur.  He wasn't too keen and his claws used to be out but I did it gently and S used to help me.

:( Sounds like Ollie's teeth aren't too good with the slavering?

Ollie that is! He has been slavering a lot and then trying to groom himself. So he has sticky and hard fur which looks awful. He looks very unkempt.

So the question is should I bath him? That should be good when he's got claws like razors  :scared:

What can I bath him with thats not going to upset his mouth, I dont want to leave anything on his fur for when he grooms. All I have here is baby shampoo but thats purfumed.

By the way for a cat that cant groom properly would it make them a bit depressed? just wondering.

His mouth has been slavering a lot, its over salavering I think way too much.
