Environmental Health .....AGAIN! This is the second time. The poor little butter is shut outside, no socialisation. 5 kids to tease it under the guise of playing.GGGRRRRRRR! Trouble is EH close the case after 14 days and a new case is reopened. No referral to previous complaints is allowed. The other neighbours princess about it, but won't complain in case they actually have to stand up and be counted!

I am struggling with a ratty Husband, who has Tinnitus and a Neighbour 2 doors down who has just obtained a Cairn/Yorkie that yaps inccessantly, setting off said Tinnitus - What do you do?

That's a nightmare ... I used to have bad tinnitus, but I found listening to music whilst falling asleep helped quite a bit.  For some reason the tinnitus eventually just ... well, disappeared!  We used to have a very loud barking dog a few doors up, keeping us awake, in the end I reported it to the council, turns out the woman who owned the poor thing kept it in her garden (hence why it barked all the time ... bored out of its mind, I should think) and the woman wasn't ever disturbed by the barking!  Did the trick though - the barking stopped.

We have that behind where we live and it's awful to hear, I so worry for the 3 dogs (and the bloke doesn't even live near he uses them in his allotment for guard dogs) the RSPCA won't do anything what did you do?

Dog Warden is now involved. Miraculously, yapping is down to a few bursts a day, totally liveable with. I wonder how long it will last..........about three weeks last time with ostentatious (sp) walks past our house!

I am so pleased you have arrived and the cats are doing well 

Sadly neighbours are a real pain and its amazing how they dont start showing their true colours until you have moved in 

I agree neutering should be done

Glad it all went to plan  Re: the noisy kids, it could just be that you aren't used to the noise so are very sensitive to it at the moment. When I moved out from home into a flat I thought the noise from above (doors closing, footsteps, washing machine etc) was unbearable but after a few months I didn't even notice it.

Silly question time but have you spoken with your new neighbour yet?

And all went very smoothly!  Contrary to general advice, I decided to let them have the run of the house almost as soon as they were in, as I was busy trying to get things in order and I didn't want to shut them in the kitchen as there's no soft stuff in there!  They seemed keen to explore, and within a day were acting like their usual selves.  Now, 6 days later, they are starting to establish favourite spots, although I'm sure that will change over time.  They are showing a more than passing interest in the catflap, but I won't be letting them out for another week or two - basically once I am back at work and we have all established a routine.

The only downside is that sometimes the neighbours' kids are horrendously noisy, which wakes us all up early in the morning, and keeps us up very late at night.  (why don't they discipline their kids?  they seem to run riot (from the sound of it), banging on the walls and radiators, slamming doors and screaming at the tops of their voices at all hours  )  Given that, unless things improve, I don't think we'll be staying here long   I like my sleep.  Why can't people have cats instead of kids?  MUCH less troublesome!
