Monty's bloods came back today and although his kidneys are borderline as expected for a cat of 16, his thyroid has settled downand so the vet is confident that a thyroidectomy is in his best interests. Therfore he is having his thyroid removed tomorrow. My welfare co-ordinator is a vet nurse at our CP surgery and so will be there to hold his paw but I could do with some positive vibes for him for tomorrow xxx thanks in advance xxx

You must have posted just as I was posting too Christine

I did, Debs.  Good luck to our Field Marshall Monty and bring us dispatches tomorrow

Yes we call him 'Major Monty'

You should call him 'Field Marshall Monty'!  What's happening tomorrow?

Monty is a perfect name for him - he has a rather military bearing, doesn't he?  Very dignified  :)
