A longish story sorry and the vet who is looking after Franta is not in tomorrow (Wed)
Ariund lunchtime I was posting on Purrs and from behind me came an extreme;y loud yowl, not a normal birman howl. It was Franta and he had sat up on hos cushion and was drooling everywhere. He yowled a couple more times and I tried to dry up all the drool which was hanging out of his mouth and he was soaking. Even Misa was worried about him and came over to see if he was alright.
He then came to lie with me om the sofa for a while, had a good yawn and his mouth looks fine inside and then went and slept in Sasas new bed which upset Sasa!
Late afternoon he was sitting up after a long sleep and again drool every where. Cleaned him up again and apart from Sasa being upset at him he seemed to be fine.
Later on he came and meowed like I am hungry so put out some Solitaire chicken fillets in jelly, all he usuasakky does is lick the jelly if I am lucky.........most of you will know that he doesnt not eat well and hasnt for a long time.
I could not believe what I was seeing cos I had divided up the little tin into two dishes with a bit left over , one was going upstairs for ducha but I put them both on the floor without thinking and Ftanta demolished both dishes and completely cleaned the dishes. I have never seen him eat anything with bits or lumps or meat?fish before. Infact he was acting like he was still hungry do put the remaining bit out in a dish and he ate about half.
He then went upstairs and upset Ducha cos he went and lay on the bed like he used to but hasnt since all the vet trips in Oct/Nov and cosequently Ducha came downstairs cos he wasnt happy........he hardly ever comes down stairs!
Ducha just came downstairs again and not a happy bunny so went back up with him and yes Franta lying on the bed but he has also eaten Duchas fish, cleaned the dish of whatever Ducha didnt eat. No signs of any more drooling but I came into the study and yes, as I expected Franta had brought up all the food he had eaten , probably a while back, so thats why he is hungry again.
He wont touch the felix but ate some more of the fish hi-life which like the chicken in jelly is very rich compared to what he normally eats.
I am hoping he will keep some of this latest batch down cos he hasnt stuffed himself like the first time and its a complete food like the chicken was.
I am concerned about two things, the drooling which I have never seen him do before, infact have never seen any of my cats like that and the eating which is totally out of character for Franta and I have been trying to get him to eat since October and so has the vet but the best he would do is lick jelly or gravy off food and nibble some biscuits.
Has anyone come across this kind of complete change in behavior of knows possiblities of why the drooling and the sudden huge appetite?
I will be grateful for any info as the vet that looks after him is not working today (wed).
He has now succeeded in upsetting all 3 other cats and made me worried.......sigh
