I believe they have to flush out the bladder completely Ann.

Thank you and I am feeling a bit more positive about it now and hope this will be confirmed when I see him tomorrow.

A good nights sleep would be fantastic would someone please tell Ducha I love him to bits but need all my pillow!

That is sounding very positive Gill  ;D I suppose his bladder would be a bit unsettled as they had been into it to remove the stones so it sounds like it is settling down now. Good news that he is grooming and taking an interest in things too. Gareth sounds like he is an absolute star  :Luv: Hopefully it will be onwards and upwards from now on and hope you get some sleep tonight

Just rung the vet cos forgot to take any food for Franta at lunchtime but they have enough until tomorrow .........phew

It was Gareth that answered the phone and he said that Frantas probs with the tray have reduced and Franta is sitting on his bed  grooming himself and surveying what is going on around him  ;D

That makes me feel so much better.

Gareth showed me the wound at lunch time and its much smaller than I had expected and all nice and neat and sealed with glue and Franta doesnt seem interested in it  ;D

I can't do anything but send my love. I have been there with that lump in my throat and tears in my eyes trying and trying to feed a little sick one.
I hope he pulls through for you. It's a shame they can't live on love xx

I had 10 hrs of broken sleep cos Ducha kept pushing me off the pillow!

I have just come back from visiting Franta and he is not a happy man cos he wants to go to the litter tray every few minutes and he go so fed up that he decided that he would just lay in there.

Gareth said its because of the op on his bladder and right now this is what happens. I do hope he improves over to day cos this is not very good for him.

I was provided with a dish, spoon and his food, so although they said he was eating I think its so little that they hoped he would eat with me but he wouldnt, think his badder is causing him too much problem and its the only thing he is focusing on.

He gave me a terrible fright cos he jumped off the table, Gareth came and checked him out and said he was Ok  :scared:

So not very good today really but hoping he will improve.

I will ring later and find out if any change.

I am still exhausted and think Franta is too cos he wont have had much sleep I think.

Just spoken to the vets and Franta has eaten a bit and urinated a bit which is really good, he has just had some more pain relief and Gareth will look at him again tomorrow morning.

He told me that Franta will be scanned each day to make sure his bladder is not leaking cos if it does Franta will get very sick very quickly.

So wishing Franta a good nights sleep and lots of good healing  ;D

Back from vets and the roadworks sign has now gone...........it was there this morning!

Franta was very tired but is looking well but we are not out of the woods yet.

The op went well but the anesthetic wasnt that good and apparently he was up and down the whole timer from being very deeply asleep to almost not breathing but they monitored him all the time and Gareth said the nurse was very good but the effect on his kidney wont be known yet.

It will take aboiut 3 days before they know if the bladder is sealed properly but will monitor that all the time.

He showed me the stones that camerout, very small but the bigger of the two was the real killer. He said if I wanted they could go for analysis but he thought it would not acheive anything as all that would come back is that he should be on this food or that food and thats not an option for Franta. So they have been binned!

Its hoped that no more will come down from around his bad kidney and he has not had to go the feminizer route, which is good I think cos he would have been under anesthetic for another two hours.

He cant be on the meds that other cats would go on because of his kidney and Gareth says that steroids stop the healing process and he cant have metacam. So he is on pain meds and thats almost it.

He is still on a drip but catheter is gone and he still flicking his paw to try and get rid of the drip.

It hasnt been said how long he will be there but I suspect until monday at least cos they want to be sure that the bladder heals, I was told it has disolveable stitches in it, and the total healing time is about 8 days.

I am totally exhausted now and Franta was holding my fingers with his head on them and I could see he was struggling to keep his eyes open but he kept gripping my fingers cos he didnt want me to leave. I thought it was better that he had a proper sleep in his cage and Gareth did too.

Have left some more food and will go back and see him tomorrow but will ring up late tonight to see if he is OK.

Its wonderful to see my little Catman and hope that he heals well and there is no kidney damage.

Thank you for all your thoughts cos you have helped him and also kept me going

Gill, that's all sounding very positive.      It's always nerve wracking waiting for news, so fully understand how anxious you were feeling.

What we all need now is for Franta to get his strength back and to be able to come home as soon as Gareth thinks he's ready.

Hoping all is good for your journey there and back Gill.
