He wont eat any real food normally and wont touch anything with lumps in, all his cat food is fishy and also biscuits but he wont touch anything.

He sometimes eats a turkey pate and he almost ate some but back away shouting at the last minute.......sigh

He is back lying on his side, what I dont know is how quick he will dehydrate again. They dripped 200ml into him today in 7 hours and Gareth said that was a lot of liquid for a small cat.

I didnt think of asking how long the stimulant takes to act.......sorta assumed it worked quick...........sigh

Gareth isnt in tomorrow but asked me to ring him on Wednesday to tell him how things are going.

Something fishy sounds good-  maybe he would drink the liquid from a tin of tuna?

What about ham? I know its not ideal, but if it would just get him started.

Would Franta show some interest in something fishy - like prawns, coley or pilchards or treats or dry food - just to get him started. - Did the vet say how long it takes for the stimulant to kick it.

Come on Franta darling boy - just a little bit of food and then a little bit more........

Yes Rosella and he wont even lick them and it dries hard.

Last night he only started drinking when it was too late and now he still hasnt eaten all day again and as far as I know not drunk either.

Why is it that the appetite stimulents just dont work with him, why is he deliberately hurting himself...............he is doing my head in and all I want to do is help him.

I guess because he is using the tray all the fluid they have pumped into him today, is gradually just coming out again and not being replaced.

I am in despair with him.

Franta Naploeon pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eat something.

Sending loads of vibes your way.  How frustrating that the only thing between him and a good recovery is something as simple as food and water.  At times like this it would be so handy if they were human for a moment and you could just sit them down and explain why they need to eat.

We have just arrived back and he was shouting loudly at Gareth, proper shouts not weak crying meows  ;D

Gareth has given him a good talking to and told him if he doesnt eat he will have to come back, so its up to him.
.
He has not eaten all day but has had 200ml of fluid pumped into him alomg with all sorts within it. He has also had all kinds of jabs that should last for a week, including appetite stimulents.

He is crouching on the carpet near his water and his food...............yes Franta FOOD for eating!..........and he has used his litter tray.

I have got some optrix to clean his eye and he needs another drop in each of them today.

He is also sporting a pale blue bandage which he isnt touching! Just give him time.

If he will eat and drink there will be nothing wrong with hime that time wont mend and its all down to the dreaded food and water.

Thank you all wonderful people for your miricle vibes and he is back in his tray stamping about and shoutin! Now he is doing his claws on the scratchin post............they were cut so not the needlepoints that they were.

I have decided to just leave his food for him to hopefylly try by himself rather than try and force it at the moment.

So all I can do really now is hope that he eats.

I'm so sorry Franta has had to go back to the vets, Gill   It must be such a worry that he won't eat or drink.  If only he'd do that he'd do so much better at home.  Even though the vets is often the best place, some cats just hate it so much it stresses them out a lot.  Jaffa is like that.  Fingers crossed the steroid will help to stimulate his appetite and get him eating again.

Thank you Angie that info so good, Gareth has confirmed it can go in fridge..................I think they were so busy last night that they couldnt think straight , had a seriously ill dog to operate on, abcess in his heart.

Just hope it hasnt cost Franta his life  :'(

Afraid Franta has just gone back to the vets cos he hasnt eaten although he was drinking, He is severely dehydrated and worse than when he was admitted over a week ago Gareth says.

Gareth said he has lot so much weight and its like he has given up but not really! He put up quite a fight to stop going in the carrier and I told Gareth he has only gone back to lying on his side while in the carrier. He is going back on a drip and will get vitamin jab, painkiller, steroid now to try and stimulate his appetite, eye drops and the idea is for him to come home again tonight although Gareth offered for him to stay overnight.........dont know if thats what Gareth really wanted but when I see him tonight it can always be changed.

I am so very very tired and so sad and Gareth is too cos he says that the op went well, his bladder is good and up to yesterday his kidney levels were good but something in his little head is stopping him from eating and he needs to eat to get well and that is all!

He has some spark and keeps going up and down stairs and slept on my bed for a while and I dosed off too with my arm round him and he shouts if I dont stay in the same room as him. He also shouts when using the tray, before or after, so the real problem is him not eating.

Right now Angie it looks like I am doing what you did with Squirt to give me some space because am totally exhausted.

Please eat Franta  cos I love you so much

10ml is not a great deal, so just perservere and give him as much as you can. If you go back to the vet ask about them showing you how to inject liquid under the skin in his scruff - you will need a bag of hartmans to do this. I haven't done this but its the next best thing to using a drip if you cannot get him to take water by spoon or syringe.

The Lectade can also be frozen. I still have some in the fridge from a few months ago that I made up and put in one of those freezer cube bags. When i need it I just pop a block out and put the little bowl containing the block over a bigger bowl with boiling water in to defrost and warm up a bit.

I don't envy you, its hard work going without proper sleep, I know poor old Squirt (RIP) used all my reserves having to nurse him which is why I resorted to the vets looking after him during the day so i could sleep them me caring for him over night.

Have had two short sleeps one downstairs on sofa and the other on bed.

Franta is now drinking but still not eaten and he has lost so much weight over the week that he is now smaller than Ducha.

He has just gone back upstairs so gonna try going to bed again!

I am hoping that its good that he is going up and down stairs and on bed occasionally but he needs to sleep..................like me!
