Morning Gill, Just checking on the Fabulous Frantaman today. Am so pleased to hear he's been giving your ears a bashing - I know it's a bit of a strain, but I know how much you missed that when he wasn't there.

As I say to Pad, even big boys need their Mammys sometimes, y'know.

Hope he keeps on improving, and that the AB's injections get easier for you.

Liz you are right he is playing a blinder

I have only just woken up after flaking out on the bed, he wouldnt let me sleep on the sofa.

He managages 3 meows a minute........what am I saying that should read second!!............ at the top of his voice and when I popped out for about 15 mins a could hear him as I opened the door.

Must admit when he starts shouting the first thing I think of .......is oh no he is having an attack but its his normal meow meow meow shouting.
Had checked him before I left and he was in his hiding place.

Part is that he seeems to be scared when he cant see me and I guess he had shouted and I didnt rush to his side so he came looking and I wasnt there. Also he likes to be touching me and with preferably both hands on him, none on the keyboard and looking at him with undivided attention!!

Yes he has his full voice back and its amazing how quickly I have thought oh nooooooooooooooo, quiet Franta and I mustnt cos this is good and having him home is amazing.

To see his little legs rush down the stairs or for him to race me to the top is wonderful but I wish he would eat more than jelly cos we are fast getting there again and he is currently anaemic . presumably because of his terrible lack of eating over the last few months.

Overall he seems to be doing well and today he has improved again so just one of these for him today

Gill he is just getting his own back for you making him stay at the vets!

Sounds promising it will take time to settle and I'm sure he will play a blinder and expect you to be on hand 24/7 and that sleep should be had when he is ready to let you.

he is having a little drink at moment but he has become even more possesive than before lool........didnt think that was possible but its me me me me me now and I must be touching you and if I cant see you I am gonna shout at top of my voice.

Franta is Ok this morning I think but havent had much more than 4 hrs sleep which is way not enough.

He is very clingy except when in his hiding place and just wants to lie some where with me and be stroked and when he cant see me he shouts and shouts.

Consequently it took forever to get to bed and he came up stairs and had made him three beds in the bedroom but eventually he just lay on the fllor and then moved to his hiding place.

Woke me up around 6 shouting......so not close to 4 hours sleep.............eventually he must have gone back to sleep again but was shouting again at 8.............each time I rushed out of bed to see if he is OK! Gave hime some food but he not eating that much really and he has had a drink. He watered a tray last night but that took for ever with him playing with the litter and picking his spot then changing his mind, picking a new spot and then kicking the litter around...........sigh

One good thing is that when he came down stairs this morning he did it at 100 mph just like he used to.

I agree with Pav, Sue and Leanne and think its taking time for him to adjust to being home again and so much has happened to him over the last few days.....to the vets on Wed and home, back on Thursday and home, back on Fri and left and then tried for home and then to a new vets, taken from that vets on Sat to normal vets and left. Vet transported him to new vets and left him. Stayed there to Monday although I visited him and left him again on Sun and then on Monday I brought him home.

Thats a lot of stuff for him and he was put under a couple of times too to be properly examined and bloods taken, with drips and the dreaded bandage on is leg, also of course from Wed night through to Friday night he was having seizures.

It would have been so much better if he could have stayed in one place all that time from Wed night and have to remember that all the journeys I did from home and back where around 50 miles half on motorways.

Looking back at all of that no wonder he is a bit confused and having problems settling.

I have dont the injection but have put a question on here for those who have given injections...its a really stupid question but just need someone to tell me it was OK!

Gill, Franta is a handsome boy

I too agree maybe his just taking take out in his own way. When Jess came home after 3 nights at the vets he spent hours under our bed next to the radiator no one could get near him, and he certainly wasn't coming out for food or the litter tray.

How is Franta doing this morning?

Morning Gill. How are things this morning? I was thinking much the same as Pav - Franta will be doing what makes him feel "safe" right now, and he needs time to adjust to what's been going on. It's been a huge upheaval for him - he wasn't feeling well, then he ends up having to go in the car and then - worse still - to the vet! -where, OhmyGod - he gets left! Away from his Mum and his family.

And I was wondering the same about Ducha - I suspect he's keeping a watchful eye on Franta without wanting Franta to feel uncomfortable or threatened in his present vulnerable state.

I agree, cats have an amazing capacity for communication, verbal and non verbal. Hoping you've managed to get some sleep too, missus. You need to rest.

Gill, it may be that Ducha feels Franta needs to be aloane in the room and is staying close by to watch him, they do communicate and know when one is not %100. I remember when Boy started being very sick in 2007 for the first time ever in 7 years i found him on my bed and what was strange is Phoebe was staying and sleeping in my bed at that time, but during that period when he was poorly she never attacked him or went for him !
I think Franta needs some time to himself , also he might think if he stays there he is safe and wont go back to the vets, i know it sounds odd, but i am sure once he feels safe and ready he will be out and on your lap

I reckon he knows better than you at the moment what he needs, and that seems to be peace and quiet and darkness - the usual remedy for getting over a trauma

and the injections will probably be making him dopey

all much better for him that those frantic attacks he was having - I know you will be getting up every hour all night to check on him - cos I know I would - but it seems to me that things are going well at the moment - you can easily syringe some water into him in the morning if necessary, and speak to Rachel for reassurance

(Trigger only ever poos every other day, except if he is put in a car - then he poos for the whole of Russia)

Yes and this time because I was thinking about that , I had the light turned right down cos there is a dimmer switch.

Because the birmans have blue eyes I feel that both of them are and maybe Franta more at the moment......wondered if he had a headache cos I dont know how he has been drinking...he has had a drink when he came home.

Have just been up to see him and its sorta cute but dont understand cos he is lying behind his curtain on the floor and if I open it he meows. So I shut it again and he is quiet. He is not asleep but obviously aware of what he is doing and just doesnt want to be disturbed

His bro Ducha however is lying outside on the landing and that I really dont understand. He always lies on the bed and waits for me to go to bed but for some reason he doesnt want to be in there..........just wondering if I am missing something.

Franta has not had much food since he came home. Someone has used the tray in the kitchen but unless he sneaked down stairs I dont know who it is....maybe Ducha?

I was watching Whitechapel and bloomin fell asleep and missed the end grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

you were afraid yesterday he might never come home again, Gill - or that you might have to do a late night dash to Bristol - so there is no doubt the situation is much improved, even if it hasn't yet got back to normal

I really don't think you should draw any conclusions about Franta's long term state until his current course of meds is finished - he is not himself because he is drugged up at the moment

have some patience, woman, and get some rest

give him time Gill, he's just been through a horrible time and is only just home. The drugs may be making him feel a bit grot too as they sound pretty strong. I'd say make a note of all the things that he is or isn't doing and run it by the vets. It also helps to write things down for you I mean. I imagine it will take a while for him to feel quite a bit better. Try not to worry too much

SO lovely to see the pic of Franta back home. He is probably all at sixes and sevens as he has really been through the mill. Try not to be like me and get all anxious all the time.

Impossible I know but do try not to worry too much. When Korky had his 'do' last year it was a good 2-3 weeks before he was back to normal. In the frist week he had some bad days and some not so bad days, the next week he has some good and some not so good days and...well, you get the picture. It took time but after about a month he was better than he had been for ages and he's stayed that way ( despite his kidney problems).

Wahey, I'm thrilled Mr Frantaman is home.

Can't blame the man for holing up and catching up on his sleeps. Wouldn't worry too much about his stair-negotiating skills yet Gilly, poor fella is probably still a little shakey.

Rest and good food is what he needs now. And lots of good vibes from everyone chez Casa Witty!

I am trying not to worry and Franta has not had an attack or anything but he definately isnt right. Seems confused and is Ok going upstairs and has jumped on the desk but is not happy coming down stairs or jumping down.

He can definately see cos followed my finger right to left and reverses and also up an down.

He had to be persuadeed to come out of his hiding place where he was not a sleep and after eating has gone back and meows if I disturb him.

I dont know what happened up there but Ducha came down to get me and rushed back upstairs and stayed outside the bedroom but no problem with Franta that I can see, except he is hiding in the dark.

He hasnt used a tray since being home , hasnt been near one.
