Gill the vet Franta saw sounds spot on. Thank goodness he has got to the bottom of poor Franta's trouble.

Do hope the meds sort it out now and Franta does not have many side effects

Gill, all of that seems to make very good sense, given what your little man's been through.     While it's fresh in your mind, keep a record of the symptoms Franta displayed over the last three weeks, and everything the vet told you today.  I think it will be a huge help for the future.

Meanwhile, am glad you made it there and back okay, and sending gentle snoozles for Franta Napoleon the Most Gorgeous.

how awful Gill but I have to say this vet does sound like they know what they are talking about - I hope if they are right you can finally kill off the infection

Have only been home about half hoiur or so but Franta has had another seizure so thats 3 since about 0100, they seem to be coming every 6-7 hours. Think I should have gone out last night to get his meds,,,,,,,,sigh

I think he had it while I was emptying the car but found him upstairs soaking wet from the water bowl and with biscuits stuck to him  :( He had managed to get to Duchas bed and was lying in there but had not eaten as he needed cos scoffed a dish of food immediately.

Saw yet another different vet Gerwiant.......I think thats how you spell it, was another of the partners very nice and very knowledgeable and knows about cats,

Rachel the last good vet at beginning decided to treat Franta for brain infection and ever since when he had seizures he was given marbocyl jabs although some of the vets reckoned he was epileptic but could not underestand why the abs worked.

Gerwiant spent a lot of time looking at Franta and talking with me and listening, and he reckons that Rachel was right because he says that epilepsy in cats is rare and tends to hit young cats like Zoes Ollie. He said that had Franta had a tumour he would now have serious problems from it but hasnt,, so no cancer. He said that if it was an ear problem by now Franta would have a head tilt but hasnt.

In fact his health is good and he doesnt look close to his age  ;D

I told him the seizures started about 4 months after he had a dental after which we had all sorts of problems cos he wouldnt eat and then it was found that he only had one kidney but because staying at the vets stressed him so badly and he howled and howled and trashed his cage, he was allowed to come home. This was after trying valium a couple of times which gave him an appetite temporarily but it didnt solve problem. Gradually at home he started eating again but then the seizures started.

Gerwaint thinks that during the dental some infection got into his blood stream and this got into his brain and caused an abcess at the front of his brain and when that grows it causes pressure and gives Franta the seizures. Over time he had a lot of marbocyl and gradually Franta got better and better until today. The 9 months since the last seizure is very good but somehow we need to kill off the infection.

The only way of proving this would an MRI but if this is correct the treatment would be the same as he is getting now, so no point.

He suggested maybe that a longer course of jabs may get rid of the infection but that is on hold at the moment and if he gets very bad he will have him in for observation. There are side effects of marbocyl apparently but forgot to ask what............sigh but know it can badly upset his tummy cos its so powerful.......lacto B to hand!

Gerwaint agrees with me that this has been coming on over last 3 weeks and all the head rubbing on everything and sometimes head banging could be cause he had a headache, I guess the shouting could be the same and its so sad that the poor little man has maybe been in so much pain, cos abcesses are very painful. He also didnt like me stroking his head, so another indicator.

So now gotta wait for the marbocyl to work again and think its gonna take more than a couple of days being he has had 3 seizures so close together.

Have to say I am exhausted and so stressed and just feel so sorry for him.

At least I know the indicators now although I dont remember any of them from before but hope the abs work quickly. Gerwaint has shaved some fur from the back of Frantas neck which hopefully will make my injection giving easier cos I can see the skin.

So just keeping fingers crossed for my little Franta.

So your kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place then Gill :(

I don't have any experience with seizures at all (fortunately).  I guess you will be guided by what your vet says and how Franta is (and by what you know from last time)

I'm really worried about both of you now Gill :(
