Great news but really weird too.  For no reason at all I was looking at this thread last night and wondering when he was going to get a home.

Such a shame for him- My moms cat still spays after years, it drives her mental as shes on a constant cleaning cycle but she still loves him, poor Dobbie looks so lovely there must be someone out there for him. :-[

It's definitely a possibility. Any new home would have to be prepared to persevere for a while to see if he adjusted.

I wonder if the spraying was why he got dumped initially.  :( He must have a loving/ understanding foster mum tho. Do you suppose the spraying is related to living with other cats?
:'( My beautiful Noah rescued 13/02/09, adopted 11/10/09, taken 11/02/11 :'( You deserved so much more.

I'm told Dobby (actually named Cliff...no idea why I was told Dobby! Unless Cliff's his pet name. We all do it...) is currently a bit of a habitual sprayer but affectionate. Didn't want to be dishonest about that.

I think he lives with other cats currently.

Yup. Apparently he's really friendly now though - there had to be an upside. Bram's been there a while too and he's an oldie. :(

Nicky thinks he's nearer four/five. Hope that helps, Tan. ;)

Here's the info:

dobbie is about 3-4 ? he was aggressive when he came as you know but he is nice now. he is a bit nervy sometimes and other cats do tend to go for him so best alone ?? he does live with other cats at the moment

It is yes - he's the house elf.....

I would love to think Dobby could have a loving home by Christmas, but it's unlikely.

I know its very sad  :( I think every cat is pretty, it's not the colour which brings this prettyness out, it's the personailty of the cat. I have 2 black n white's and they are the most loveable cats  :Luv2:

Come on you onlookers, someone out there must have a place in their heart for Dobby, and you could also change his name if you like  ;)

Isnt "Dobby" from Harry Potter films?

Crazy isn't it? He and Mia have been there so long now it's untrue. Mia is a bit of a madam, but as far as I know Dobby's a good lad.

:evillaugh: Good for you! I can't understand people doing that; if you realise you simply can't cope or afford an animal, admit it. That way people can help.

Dobby is still looking sadly....poor black and white cats, always overlooked aren't they?

Only just caught up with this thread. So many times in the past we have been called out to take in a female who is about to give birth in a garden and it has turned out to be a male with an  'hereditary pouch'.

I remember once very early in the morning I received a phone call from a lady who said she had seen a car hit a cat and had taken it inside her house so it does not go in the road again. She said she could see no signs of external injury but she said the cat was pregnant. Immediately I went to her house a few miles away. There was no obvious sign of injuries but as we all know we cannot take the risk that the little one did not have internal injuries. Anyway we got talking (as you do) and she gave me all the reasons why she could not keep the cat although she would love to. I cannot remember what the obvious signs were that the cat was hers but by then I knew it was. (I always ask in these cases, if the cat is yours please tell me as I will still help you but I will be able to find out more about the little one and its likes and dislikes, she denied all knowledge) She then signed over the cat to Cats Protection. I then picked up the little one as  I was leaving she said ‘will you let me know when it has its kittens’, I replied , oh! It won't be it's a boy. Immediately she said I will keep it then if it is a boy, but I advised her that she had now signed it over to me and its owner may turn up and even if they didn't then because of the reasons she had given why she could not keep it, then it was in her interest to re-home it. Her face was a picture. On the way home I called in at the vets just to be in the safe said and the vet confirmed that the little one had certainly not had a meeting with a car. No surprise there then.
