Some friends of mine adopted a cat from some neighbours.  The neighbours were a gay couple and for some bizarre reason had decided to dye poor Sampson (lovely long haired white cat) bright day-glo pink!!  :-[

The poor cat must have been very self-conscious! But after being adopted he was soon back to his normal colour  :)

I've always wanted to get some illuminescent spray to put on the apprentices - would feel more comfortable if they would glow in the dark - though they 're not supposed to be out at night.
Would be god for dog owners too - long hair tends to hide glwong collars.

ive only just seen this but my first reaction that had the cats really been painted it would have been more or less impossible to get the paint/spray so perfect even under ga ... it was my initial gutfeeling that it was digitial enhancing.

A bit of a relief reading that now! Was getting myself into a right tizzy fit thinking these poor cats were being so badly treated!

You can rest easy - it seems they aren't actually painted cats after all

My cats run a mile if they see pick up a spray can. let alone spray anything.

Gill my cats do exactly the same, so I have no idea how someone would manage that..
I really thought they were photoshopped until I read the other posts.

i don't get how a cat could sit still to let someone paint tartan on them?? it must have taken ages. How pointless.

I was thinking about this, and the only way I could come up with was to put it under anaesthetic. AND some of the owners have their cats "repainted" every three months, which I would imagine is pretty stressful. How cruel.

dont see the point to it, if you want cats to be different then... draw a cat every day & paint what ever colour you like DONT mess with the real thing

Yep, that's pretty much my opinion too. Body art on a person is their choice, on their cat, well.....again, their choice unfortunately!

I'm less disturbed by the giraffe design and moon design (and possibly even the halloween design) purely because the dyes haven't changed their fur colour as far as I can tell.

I wish people would just see the beauty in the animals that surround them and realise how honoured they are, rather than trying to beautify  things all the time.

I think they horrible and thought they were doctored pictures till i read up. I think its irresponsible in todays climate of cruelty to animals to show pictures like these.

I saw those in the Mail yesterday (least I think it was then).  Apparently it is harmless vegetable dye and comes out quickly and easily and the only thing damaged is the cat's pride!  The usual warning was there about not trying this at home with normal paint - whether people read it or not is another issue completely.  There was one that I really liked but most of them I'm not fond of.
