Sleeping arrangments

Most cats sleep alot, i would let them do whatever, if you put them somewhere in particular they WILL want the opposite!! Thats when carpets get pulled up

we find it helps if you spend a dedicated time of play with the cats before you go to bed, then give them a wee morsel to eat and they should settle with you.  You have to remember too to give them time to adjust to a new routine.

certainly this is our method of gettinga peaceful night and we have 9 of the little tigers to contend with!

I would let them stay in the bedroom with me.  But you never know, after a while your flat mates may get to really love the cats and not mind them wandering around

my guys settle nicely in my room, I have a scratching tree with beds in there and I feed them a small amount of food as I settle down, after they  have eaten and had a wash they go to sleep too

What i was thinkin is that they can stay in the hallway but they might be a nuisence if one of the girls gets up during the night. If they stay in the lounge there is more of a chance they will scratch the chairs if i am not there to discourage them.

Or i could prop my door open and they can go from my room to the hallway as they like. During the day they will be able to roam as they like, except to the kitchen i think and any other bedroom that has the doors shut. My worst fear is that they will either get shut in a room or that hte doors are so heavy they get a tail caught!! They will be fed in the hallway. Its a huge hall!

Your flatmates may not want your cats roaming the house at night..........will they be roaming oy during the day?

I think probably in your room would be best cos then you know that someone coming in or leaving late will not let the cats out.

Do any of you let your cats sleep in your room? Its a week away until i move into the flat with my 2 cats and they are used to having the run of the house when i am in bed. But as i am sharing with other people i am wondering whether to keep them in my room or not over night.

Iv made a list of reasons to do it and not to.

Good things about it-

They wont wreck the place at night
Company for me
They will feel more secure

Bad things -

What if in the future i dont want them in my room anymore (future boyfriend etc)
The only time i have had Milo in my room over night he kept launching himself at me and chasing my feet
They are used to being alone at night
I am a light sleeper
They tend to be quite active at night.

Sigh. Any thoughts?
