He's such a babe  :Luv: and looks so chilled out in his new home.  It's like he just knows that this is the one and that he'll be with you forever.

Zephyr wakes me up every morning at about 5:30 ... so I just pick him up carry him downstairs and shut the door.  He goes to sleep on the sofa and wakes up again at about 7:30 when I get up .... yes we do go through this ritual EVERY morning and have done so for the past 7 years!

My two are a bit like that.  If they wake up too early I just take them out the back, give them a treat and shut the door.  They always go quiet straight away and seem happy to stay out there until I get up and go out to them.

Right.

So I suspect littlest Capone was a terrorist in a previous life.

He has kept me up ALL night.

I don't know if this would work on Capone as Riley was a kitten when I did it but I used the 'supernanny' method on him when he was continually pestering and poking me and my head throughout the night.  I would literally sit up, pick him up without engaging with him, say No firmly and place him at the bottom of the bed.  I must have done this 80 odd times the first night and only a few less the next night but he got the message in the end and now he doesn't pester me at all, just snuggles down under the cover for a bed time cuddle before going to sleep.

It's exhausting the first few nights but worth a try surely!

the sound I most dread in the middle of the night is a lot of scampering accompanied by high-pitched squeaking - that means another game of catch the mouse >:(

Right.

So I suspect littlest Capone was a terrorist in a previous life.

He has kept me up ALL night. I woke up with him wrapped around my head, like a furry russian hat, bunny kicking my head with all claws digged into my skull! The more I tried to remove him, the funnier he thought the ''game'' was and dug his claws deeper! OUCH!

Then I fed him, and moments later (as I was drifting back to sleep) I hear a loud burp, followed by a splatter that could only be him puking on the floor. I was right! I was scrubbing the floor at 5am.

I am SO sleep deprived!

For a cat that is so sweet and generally brilliant he can also be a little  :censored: !!!

I love him though... my little Al Queda. (or should that be OWL Queda?)

Claw trimming is definitely the problem with the girls, however I'm being a wuss and leaving it til they go to the vets next month as they wriggle enough when I put their frontline on, never mind if I started trying to cut their claws!!

Thanks all! Glad it's not just Capone...  ;)

Oh, and woke up with a claw in my mouth this morning.... pierced lip!  :tired:

Do his claws need clipping?  Riley often 'touches' me with his paws when I'm awake but just laying there.  When his claws are really long it bloody well hurts even though he's only trying to touch me rather than claw me. I trim them as soon as they start hurting me again, probably about every 3 weeks.

Gizmo tends to get cuddly at 5 or 6am, which is nice but the alarm is set for 6:45...

So I end up petting him while half asleep just to keep him happy.

It took years to get Lirael to sleep through the night, which means I'm not allowed to move since she sleeps on my arm.

There is hope that it'll stop but it could be a while ;)

Capone is a handsome lad, and you have to admire his initiative.
Jade one of my rainbow cats, used to lick me, in order forehead, cheek, chin, and then most painfully nose,  sitting on my chest and peering at me to watch for any response.  Did you know getting your nose licked by a cats tongue flippin hurts.
So glad you got Capone to serve, wait upon and generally run after.

There's a cartoon somewhere on you tube - a cat waking up it's owner slave with the usual tricks - purring and the paw thing - then boxing - finally it comes back with a baseball bat, bats the human and hides bat and innocently purrs...

A well known cartoon on here...... :evillaugh:

Capone is a handsome (if not a little bossy!) lad. :)

The girls both do the night/morning ritual, but both differently. Amber will lick any exposed bit of skin and walk up and down you. Chilli on the other hand will start off with the claws or teeth, no warning! Recently I have had chin chewing, nose chewing, elbow chewing and this morning she was mostly clawing at my face. I tried going completely under the covers but then she fished around under the duvet with her claws trying to find some skin!! She's a very docile loving cat normally, just not in the mornings!!

Capone looks so settled, which is great to see. He's also utterly gorgeous so I think we probably need even more pics!!!

Magnus has now decided that to wake me up he should tap on my nose.  If I don't respond he taps with claws.

Still love them, even if it does mean getting woken up multiple times through the night to being licked to death and for the kneading to start  :evillaugh:

Dave approaches at approximately 6am with deafening purrs then proceeds to shove a soggy nose in my face, then finds a hand to lick, then shoves his nose in my face, all the while I am mostly studiously ignoring him. He will then lie on my face at which point I turn over. This will continue for about 10 rounds before he gets fed up. I fall back asleep until the routine continues at approximately 7am until I finally give in at about 7.20am and then get up at 7.30am.

I am also a sleep deprived mother. :tired: :evillaugh:

Our cats rule our lives!  :Luv:

Capone will first tap, then tap with claws, then scratch. He does it harder and harder, so I sub-consciously know I have to wake up pretty damn quick for the pain not to increase! What a clever cat.

Infact, I have now started to wake up the second he is about to tap my face, and see this slow-motion white paw approaching my face!

My Dragan (RIP) used to tap me on the top of my head, if no dice, he would scratch me gently on the top of my head and if still no dice he would pull my hair quite hard.  Charlie stands on his back legs at the side of the bed and boxes me.

Ahh sorry about the lack of pics! I have just generally been MIA from here, for no apparent reason! Capone is a sweetie and everyone that meets him says that too. He is very sociable and wants to be centre of attention.

He doesn't wake me up for food - it's just for attention. While that is super-sweet it is also annoying. I wake up and see a white silhouette in the dark, prodding my face. When I reach out to stroke him he thinks it's playtime and attacks my arm. I have a heartattack about 4 times each night!

So pleased that he's settled in well and you've fallen in love with him :) I was worried that the lack of news/pics might have been because you felt you'd made a mistake in adopting him  :scared: Is he waking you up for food or just to be annoying?  I always set a feeder for silly 'o' clock so the boys don't associate prodding me til I'm awake with getting fed, they're angels now and even if I forget to set the feeder they don't wake me  :Luv2:

Thanks all  :Luv:

He is such an amazing cat. It's crazy to think that RSPCA would have put him down just like that - he is a healthy and active boy. Very affectionate too - when he purrs the whole sofa/bed vibrates. Only annoying thing is that he wakes me up several times at night, by tapping my face (cute!), or clawing my arm (not so cute) or worse - clawing my face/nostrils (ouch!). I have to wake up, give him a fuss/rattle his food bowl and then go to bed again. This happens at 2am, 4am, 6.30 am and around 9am. I feel like a sleep deprived mother!

Christine - I think I know which ones you mean, think they sell them at Ikea too.

He's lovely, Tigerbaby.  You should get some childproof covers for the open sockets on your four-way adaptor so he can't get his claws into them.  Any shop selling electrical bits and pieces will have them and they're only a few pence.
