You feel better because someone who is paid to give you advice that you like and trust, has told you its OK  ;D

And hopefully this will reduce your anxiety and Charlie will stop picking up on it.

Just heard back from Sarah Heath.  She doesn't seem worried about it, said to continue as before, it is early days and that in all probably I might have pushed him into high arousal (which doesn't take much at the moment) when I said "no".  She said in future just ignore him if he seems to be after more food.  Phew why do I feel better about it? :)

Ed used to pee on things when he wasn't happy.

Usually stuff on the floor (you couldn't undress and leave the clothes on the floor!!).

It was a general nervous / stress / display of not being happy thing with him.  If you moved stuff around he peed, if you cleaned the litter tray peed (anywhere but the tray), if hub and me had an argument he peed, if it was bonfire night he peed....  you get the gist - nothing was physically wrong - it was purely psychological - he just hated anything to change in the slightest.

Hope your behaviourist can help, and as others say, try to stay calm, so he doesn't pick up on your worry.

He has really alarmed me.  He was on the worktop in the kitchen wanting more food and I just said "no Charlie" and he spurted pee all over the place.  I am trying not to get too worked up and have emailed the Behaviourist but I never saw a cat do that before.  Any advice?

10 years or so back I had a cat that would "punish" me if he got told off or didn't like the way things were.  Why do I think he was punishing me?  Cos he crept into the bed and did it - but always on my side!

C.

I think you have to remain calm as if Charlie picks up on your stress at this incident it will make him more  agitated,as i said i have this occasionally with barnsey its like a naughty child because i said no which he understand he will squirt and then run , it could be the tone of voice you used or it could just be retaliation for being denied what he wanted. >:(, just ignore this incident and hope it was just a one off, calming vibes are coming to you both and hope the day settles into some peace and harmony again

I am not aware of anything, but he has been on high arousal most of the day so far.

Awww Im sure he's not! He has had his routines changed and maybe it's upsetting him a bit but it is for his own good. I'm sure the behaviourist will be able to help more.
