Must say Jack is a handsome lad and looks quite a character :naughty:

Sorry i have no health advice but I hope his mouth soon feels more comfortable. Do you know much about his life before he came into rescue?

Hi James,

Welcome to Purrs In Our Hearts and good on you for giving the fella a loving home, he's georgous!!. Yo9 will find lots of genuine, friendly and helpful advise on here and I am always so pleasedto hear of someone giving a much-needed loving home to an FIV cat. There are several of us on here that have FIV cats, many with longer experience than me, like Max's "owner" Clare. Yes, you are correct in saying that a cat has FIV for life but there's so much more known about the virus now than ever. I wish you and your handsome fella all the best and we'll all try and answer any questions that you have.

It is so wonderful you have given this little man a forever home and you have come to the right place for advice!

There is a section on this here forum, as I'm sure you've probably discovered, especially for all the gorgeous FIV puds and their hoomans. One of our forumites also has a website dedicated to educating people about the myths and facts of FIV puds. I am having a mind blank at present and cannot for the life of me conjure up the name  :-[

Jack is lovely too, I'm sure he will bring you lots of joy and cuddles  :Luv2:

ETA: It's LeighK, he has a thread running at this very moment about giving his site a spruce up, you should check it out.

Thanks for all advice, and pics seem to be essential!
Spoke to vet re: FIV; she is going to find out if they will send the test to the lab and how much it costs. The problem with Jack is his mouth - he is getting a tooth out next week (leaving him 1 front fang!! :shocked:). His gums have ulcers, which is not good - having FIV may mean this never recovers (?!) He eats well though, and dry food. We will need to see how things pan out over next couple of weeks. I'm suprised at how much this all concerns me - he has small cut/'hole' below his eye, and he seems to 'gag' like he's going to vomit but doesn't (is this a furball? nothing comes up)
Otherwise he is  8)! One sniff of tuna or ham, and he's up like a kitten. Here's some pics....
