I think with Sam Jane it is just a case of he is so greedy he doesn't notice!! He does only get cat milk with meds in it though, so maybe he just appreciates the treat enough to eat it regardless!!

I'm so pleased that she is much better, maybe many older cats like mine and Desley's don't bother about the antirobe in the milk because their tastebuds and sense of smell are poorer.

Just a quick update - FiFi is now fine- teeth out , abcess is healed up , just waiting for fur to grow back on her cheek.
She is eating well and back to normal now thank goodness.
She loved a tiny drink  of milk -so, i emptied one of the antirobe in it whilst she was asleep upstairs -i took it up to her and she would not drink it !
I am sure she knew there was something in it even though she was upstairs and i did this in the kitchen downstairs !! :sneaky:
She hasn''t bothered with milk since and i gave her the rest of the tablets the normal way.

Antirobe is much much better mixed in food because if it gets stuck on the way it can cause irritation. Its also one that can just be given am as one dose  ;)

I hope shes feeling better soon, should do without her grotty teeth

Thanks everyone -yes she is on Antirobe - got one down her this morning ok -will see how it goes and if it gets too much for her i will mix it with some milk -she love milk but its only given as a special treat !! Otherwise i get a special treat in the litter tray !

My 2 have cat milk every morning so Byron was getting a little later on too.  Is it cat milk you giver her? because Byron gets runny if she has ordinary milk, you also only need a tiny drop the antirobe mixes in very well and far less stressful to do it that way I think.

She will feel much better now - if she is on Antirobe, you can open the capsules and mix the powder in - Sam has had two courses mixed in cat milk now and not noticed.

That's how I gave them to Byron - works a treat!

Great to hear Fifi is sorted now  :)

Glad she's home and her mouth is looking better - I'm sure she's going to be a whole lot more sociable once her mouth is completely healed. I'm just going through similar with my George, who is the most placid and soppy cat normally, but he's recently been grumbling and growling at the others and even being spitty with me - sure enough, vet said tonight that he has some bad teeth and a very sore mouth!

Well FiFi is home now.
2 rotten teeth took out , abcess is looking better now - and she wont come near me !!
I am beginning to wonder if this cat has ever seen a vet ??
I have given her some soft biscuits and some warm weetabix for now and the next few days - also got 5 days tablets at 2 per day -that will be fun- i think not !!
The bill was not as bad as i expected either which was a bonus .
Hoping after her terrible meowmmy has given her these tablets -she might be a bit more sociable with me !?

Fi Fi ate last night and today  :yayyy: :yayyy: :yayyy: and has been a lot brighter .
I soaked her biscuits in warm water so they went soft for her and she also had some weetabix with milk - she must have been starving as she hadn''t eaten hardly anything for 2 days .
She is now at the vets tonight where she is having her abcess checked over and a painkilling injection to keep her going without any pain tonight.
Hopefully after having her teeth done and getting over that -she will be back to normal again .

I don''t think she has had much done to her -i am thinking she has been fed and thats it .
She doesn''t like you grooming her , cleaning her eyes , picking her up , cuddling , and she cowers down when she thinks you are going to clean her eyes and puts her paws out with claws to get you off !

Yes, she is already a lot happier tonight .
I gave her some weetabix and milk mixed up as she wont eat any wet cat food and she ate some and then some more later .
She also had a little bit of  fish which she has always turned her nose up at before - she is obviously very hungry now .
I have bathed it twice and now will leave it till bed time .
The vet has suggested i take her tomorrow evening (5.30-6.30) and leave her there till Wednesday evening to pick up after everything has been done. That way he can check the abcess and give her another pain killing injection too .  I thinks thats best for her , so will probably do that as the pain killing injection will have worn off tomorrow afternoon.

Took her to the vet today and as i thought when her fur fell out and it looked swollen -she had an abcess- poor little girl, she had a penicillin injection to last her till wednesday and a pain killing injection too .
Been home about 1/2 and the abcess has burst  - have just bathed it all in cool ,boiled salt water .
I am sure she will feel a  lot better in a couple of hours after injections kick in now .
Just get her teeth done then on wednesday and hope she will be okay for a while then.

I'm sure you're right, once teeth abcesses burst it is usually a relief, I do feel for her though they are so painful and can make you feel really off it, not long to Wednesday when she'll get sorted properly.

Taking her in tomorrow to see the vet - she has hardly eaten anything this weekend and one little piece of ham today .
I wiped her eyes and a big piece of fur has come off her cheek -it looks really sore and swollen -wonder if there is an abcess ?
She is very miserable too and cranky .
Her teeth are in a awful state -one actually looks like its in the roof of her mouth -i managed to have another look yesterday .
I am worried about her and can''t wait till tomorrow for the vet to see her.

Poor Fifi.  I don't know the answer to your question but surely the vet can tell you over the phone if he/she thinks she will be ok til Wed.  He has just examined her so might be able to prescribe a painkiller to tide her over.  Best of luck Fifi

I took FiFi to the vets to sort out her microchip and he checked her over too .
Her teeth are in a bit of a bad state -one has grown abnormaly ,sort of sideways into her mouth and he said she needs it taking out and a dental - i have booked her in at the first opportunity they had which is wednesday .
Since coming back she has been very quiet and not eating much - she was okay before i took her to the vets !
Now i have convinced myself she has toothache and will she be okay till wednesday ? -i rang up the vet again but they cannot fit her in till then .
