good, but I really wouldn't worry, he'll eat etc in time he just needs to settle that's all. He won't poo either if he hasn't eaten, it's a big thing for him so just try to be calm and let him come round when he's ready

My garden is cat profed mm, I have just let him out again to see if he will toilet, he's still out there so hopefully.

I never thought about tuna, good idea will try that

I left some of his cat food under the bed last night and its gone this morning although I doubt its been him thats eat it

My cats are being really good with him, no fighting which I did expect.

And another matter is his tats, I dont know wether to do them myself in a couple of days or a vet visit to be sedated

It is quiet common for new cats not to eat for a couple of days, he will be confused and alittle stressed.
Its good he has eaten some ham, he will eat properly when he is hungry x

He needs one room with plenty of peace and quiet to settle in, letting him out so soon is very dodgy

Its common for newly rehomed cats not to eat or toilet for 24hrs, they need time to calm down, if your tense and stressed food is the last thing on your mind?

Have you tried hand feeding him a little bit of chicken, or sardines in sauce ,my lot wont eat it in oil but they will eat it in sauce, as for fluid try him with a bit of evaporated milk with a little bit of water in it

He's been eating ham, but still not his food. He's also been outside but just sits in the rabbit hutch and cries. He is now sitting on my bedroom window purring but thats not going to help him eat or wee.

Try fresh cooked chicken, i got some ready cooked from Tesco and just put it near him and then left him to it, when i went back 1/2hr later it had all gone, so maybe if you put him somewhere on his own quiet it may do the trick, as for the weeing if hes not drinking he wont want to, you will need to check hes not dehydratingl

I have offered him some gormet solitaire chicken and nothing, rubbed my finger along his mouth and he just licks his lips. And what about the wee, surely he cant hold that in for much longer?

When i first took George in he didnt eat for almost 3 days, just sat on the bed next to the heater, i tried every food available and finally ended up with some chicken in a little gravy and some whiskas milk, that did the trick ,then i gave him some turkey mince which went down a treat again with whiskas milk, might be worth a try

I don't have enough experience with cats to advise. If i've needed my dogs to drink in the past i've added a splash of milk to their water... food isn't so urgent so i tend to leave that to come naturally.

Hope he starts doing things soon.

With regards to the name, my Grandma used to have two dogs called Ben, apparently it made life much easier calling just one name.

He's still not eaten/ drank/ weed/ pooped help!!!!!

He's called Oliver, which is causing confusion, when I should him a little black at called Ollie is coming to me

cant change his name either cos he's too old for that. Oh well 2 birds 1 stone

He has been in the garden, I put him out there, to see if he would toliet. He just sniffed around crying and ran back into the house, straight upstairs. What can I do to help him, he needs to eat and wee etc

well done CC for taking this oldie on, i have taken on 2 oldies i( 15+ and 18+ ) in the last 2 months, but its been worth it to see them relax and enjoy being pampered

I wouldnt force the food on him just yet CC, it is normal for them not to eat much in the first 24 hours. Just make sure he has some quiet space, and preferably the same kind of food he is used to eating.

Well he's home now and we have had chin rubs and purrs already

He's very chilled, not really bothered about the others, but I know he is scared. He's hiding under the bed or on the window.

Harry has had a good sniff and he just stood there, no whacks or nothing. So hopefully they know he's an oldie and wont beat him up

Ted has also seen him and they are not going mental trying to fight, not like Ted at all.

He has not eaten yet and been here since 3pm, should I try to feed him? He has food there but I think he is too scared to eat it.

He is massive, and by that I mean massive, he also has quite a few tats under his tummy but they will have to wait a few days I think. He stinks of lavender or something and its awful

I would just let him settle in one room first, hes likely to be shaken up. Or maybe not, might just walk in like hes always been there

If theres problems then you will need to scent exchange with slow introductions, assess when he arrives

Well Jack, the only reason Im taking him is because of his situation, must not be nice to be living in a bush petrified at that time of life, not when that home was happy for him till the dog arrived.

And due to his age thats the only reason I think, as he has already lived half of his life out and wont have many more years to come (although I know cats can live long lives) I dont want to sound awful about that and hope he does have a long life yet to live.

But if it were a younger cat I would of said no, his owners are moving abroad later next year so he would of been going to rescue anyways. I know it takes longer for older cats to be rehomed, so this is why I said yes.

Im going to pick him up soon, wish me luck

I am wondering how to introduce an older cat to my mob. I have been told he is a very timid cat, my lot are very nosey and Ted can be a bruser at times.

So how could I make things go a bit smoother for all of us?

He is 11 btw and has been living outside in his owners garden since the new dog arrived, he is very scared of the dog and comes to the front door for his dinner, he will not go into the house and spends most of his time outside in the bush

But thats gonna change
