Our lovely Sally has been manning our branch line all through the Crimbo period, despite being unable to speak hardly with the flu, so I couldn't shirk today's shift.
It's been a fairly heavy day so far, obviously first working day since Christmas so folks have been saving up their grief, but the call I just took has won the prize.
Caller - I've found this poor old cat and I think she's been hit by a car.
Me - Oh, yes. Poor thing! How can we help?
Caller - She can't use her back legs and is dragging them.
Me - That's awful. What do you need from me?
Caller - I don't know what to do with her.
Me - I can tell you the name and number of the nearest vet if you tell me where you live.
Caller - Do you think I should take her to the vet, then?
