Looking at our last heating bill, maybe we should go into business selling re-cycled cat-hair as loft insulation.  Anyone want to join my possible enterprise?!

It gets everywhere in our house.  Even in one room they don't have access to!!  I do find nail sheathes and the odd whisker too.

Clothes are a nightmare with three persians who love to lie all over us.  I'm a big fan of black clothes so make sure I am stocked up with de-fluffers (as my mam calls them).  The bain of my hubby's life is that when he drives to work on a morning his face stubble is full of cat hair so he sort of pulls his fingers down his chin and gets clumps of it out.  He says it takes him  three or four times to get it all out

Know exactly what you mean about the tumbleweed - came back from holiday and my mam had been looking after them.  She had brushed the floors but not moved furniture.  There was balls of it behind/under the dining room table!  Caught her out didn't I

We gave up on carpets years ago - it's a lot easier to sweep up hair from a wooden or tiled floor - and Blip is a singular cat (in more ways than one, haha  ;)).

Mine dont shed much either Jane - they do get cat litter everywhere though!!

Mine too - they are a nightmare!  The bathroom/hall and usually the bedrooms have cat litter everywhere - I usually find some on the bed too.  I think I find that more annoying than the cat hairs - my hoover isn't that great at picking it up.

Though carpets are a mess anyway through Ollie being sick everywhere when there is a hairball due to come up any day - anyone else have this problem?   Who'd have though you'd be happy to see a hairball!  I then know that the sick is overwith until the next time.

I barely notice any fur from my pair, but then again I am used to a labrador that can turn our dark brown carpet creamin about 3 days

I swear Poppy is more productive than the average sheep... or three!

Couple of ears ago we kept all her groomings for a year in a binbag, this just from her weekly groom not the hoover... and the bag was full within 8 months, by squishing it down we filled it in the year, we then washed it and sent it off to a weird charity that was round at the time... kniting hats out ofdog fur to raise money for the PDSA

they wrote back asking if we had kennels

It's odd but I was just saying the other day, our two don't seem to shed much hair  :-: and wonder whether it's because they are old? since we've had oldies there's been much less hair than when we had Pen and Squeak from kittens (my cats can go out but very rarely do)
Having said that my Dyson is always full of hair! I also find whiskers and nails.  Schui used to have 1 white whisker grow on his right side which always regrew when it fell out.  I didn't really like it ('cos I like symmetry ) but since he got poorly this year it's never grown back, it did make him look distinguished though.

You are so right Kirst and no wonder they get so many furballs, Ducha seems to shed fur all of the time but Franta just eats his!

I'm always scared at how much sandy coloured fluff is in the Dyson  a combo of kitty litter, ginger fluff and talcum powder

Yep!
Sounds like our Dyson - a sort of knit-your-own-cat every time we empty it!!

Jessie is slightly fluffy and it's really quite remarkable how she always manages to make sure we have a bit of her about our person whenever we go out - esp on OH's dark suits :evillaugh:

THat is so clever! did you do that? He was Siamese, btw ...

Its a combination of clipart, The "Paint" program and a bit of manipulation on my part .......  I have a vast collection of clipart hoarded over the years from when Ive written to family, friends and so on.  Its fairly easy to access things (clip art can be used freely provided its not for commercial gain and this is just for fun)

Purrhaps this pic is better ?  Call it "Pavarotti on the Case!!"  :naughty:

Our household with one short haired cat is bad enough, as soon as I put away my hoover I would see a tumbleweed of cathair floating about at another corner of the room, if I move something from the floor another tumbleweed rolling out... every time I see less point of ever bothering to hoover, then I think of Gillian with the army of Persians... and feel some comfort :evillaugh:

Blackcat

What we all really need is black cats who shed on light clothing and white cats to shed on dark clothing . . . .  With various other colours in between, of course, for variety.

In Queensland you were constantly harrassed with people trying to sell you stuff. Sometimes I would invite them in if they had a black suit and a briefcase. Pavarotti used to love peeing in briefcases when the owners were silly enough to leave them open - he was a real stealth pee-er and would not rough the paperwork when was finished. And Bob's white fur looked quite lovely on their black suits  :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

I cant imagine life without Kitty hair . . . . .

An all time favourite memory is a visitor who was perched on the edge of the sofa, being frightfully prim and proper.  She was a friend of my parents so we felt we should be polite but conversation was very stilted.  She had a very smart black skirt and jacket - when she arrived.

We had sort of gently pointed out she was sitting where the cat usually sat, but she was very much a "Cats belong outside" type of person

When she left, the back of her skirt had a beautiful coating of tabby-cat-fluff.  We didnt tell her .....

Its been 2 weeks since I touched the hoover and with my 8 and down to 6 fosters at the moment the place is a tip.
No one wants to go out 'cos of the rain and the lane is flooded now (I love it when that happens - watching all the 4X4's trying to avoid the water by driving on the pavements!)

So, being stuck in the house - will I start housework?

What the heck!!! Litter trays more or less clean and cats fed, the remains of a victim from yesterday wafting round the kitchen (as in feathers on the floor!).

Anyone fancy rescuing me from it all - bring your own mops! :-[ :-[

Yes, it is always disconcerting when the dyson fills up before you get to the other side of the mat ... You should try adding a dog into the continuum  I have resigned myself to the mohair look, but some of my guests find it a little disconcerting ... :innocent:

Hair, there and everywhere !
« Reply #1 on: December 13, 2008, 11:39:21 AM »
One of the things that I never thought of when adopting indoors cats was the amount of hair that accumulates everywhere. When I had outdoors cats it wasn't something that I noticed so much but I find hair everywhere in my smallish flat. I do washing up and wonder why my plates have the odd hair on them when I dry them with a tea towel, I've even found hair in the freezer and microwave oven for heavens sake, heaven knows how it gets in there unless the boys are helping themselves to some of the contents of the freezer and them microwaving themselves a meal whilst I'm out at work :) and as for clothes I do not have one single hair-free item of clothing. Not that all this bothers me one little bit but they don't half shed a lot of hair between them. Other things that I've found are discarded claw sheaves and whiskers again I never remember finding them when I had outdoors cats. I'm thinking of going into production of a range stylish oat hair filled products, duvets, pillows, cushions, quilted body-warmers etc. :).

Cheers

Leigh
