I have just found out this cat belongs to someone its 20 yrs old and has kidney problems and is under vet care...

You might remember this happened to my friend back in may -
She went away on holiday and her parents were feeding Sophie (they live across the road) Sophie is 18yrs old, thin and on tabs for tyroid
Sophie went missing and it turns out someone had thought she was a stray, they phoned a local rescue and Sophie was collected.
Thank goodness they hadnt rang the RSPCA as i am sure she would have been PTS.

I also remember a case where an old cat was reported as a stray and RSPCA collected and put cat to sleep! (in the back of the van if i remember correctly)
This cat was a much loved pet.

Sadly this is all too common, isn't it? Only recently I posted about a cat named Billy in IT HAS BEEN KNOWN in General Cat chat. He was lucky but I have know of others  who finding there owner was too late and to make it worse the finders often know who the cat belongs to but don't say.

I'm surprised the man didn't knock on a few doors. I'm sure someone would have told him. There are only about 20 houses each side of the street

And by the way this has happened.. not with us but with an other rescue...However, i doubt anyone will take any notice of what i told the neighbour... because she wanted to take on a kitten for Christmas and i kind of told her to come back in the New Year.. No doubt she isnt very happy with me!

I got an email from Sharon late last night about an emaciated ginger cat, described as "a skeleton on legs" - I was taking OH to the station for a 5.30am train so had a look down the street where it was reported. Sure enough there was a friendly ginger cat, but chunky looking and far from being an emaciated stray. It is a really small back street. By the time I finish uni today it will be dark again - I just wonder if it is a different cat of if someone is exaggerating. Hopefully someone else can get there in daylight, otherwise I will have another look tomorrow afternoon which will be my next chance in daylight.
