Are my cats extra fussy or do others end up with loads of rejected food?

Mine are fussy, but one advantage of fostering is there are always cats to eat it - luckily I have a houseful of oldies at the moment, so I am getting rid of the senior food on them - Zi is the worst, she is so picky with wet (she didn't eat it before coming here) - Molly would happily eat the senior food, but if she eats too much of it, she loses a lot of weight. I dont pander to them though, they get what I put down and that is all till the next meal (They do have biscuits down all the time) and from time to time, Zi doesn't get a wet meal at all, as I throw so much of her food away.

My 2 will really only eat Whiskas supermeat unfortunately but as they are so old and toothless I don't stress over it, I buy them other things each week and they just lick them over then leave them, the ferals however do eat their leftovers but even they are picky and won't eat cheaper biscuits or food ie supermarket brands

I have given Alice about 5 different things today, including tuna and was beginning to think she was ill. I found a pouch of Felix shrimp flavour and she is eating like she is in a competition  

I wouldn't mess her diet around as we (vet as well) think her bloated belly is down to malnutrition when she was a stray  - she can have whatever she likes - within reason

No waste here  - They all eat so quickly its gone in a flash. Joe is the only one who will sometimes have a little rebellion and give me that 'you expect me to eat that' look LOL! but all I need to do then is make a show of going to the cupboard that has their biscuits in, pretend I've taken some biscuits out and pretend to sprinkle on his food - and he'll eat it then 

Sam I indulge as he is poorly, as far as I'm concerned he can eat whatever he wants

Can't begin to tell you how much cat food has been binned or given away over the years in this house Mark but, since implementing "starvashun dyat" about 2 weeks ago, absolutely no wastage at all.  Madam still has healthy looking saddlebags all the same so far.  I would never however recommend this for elderly or ill puddies.  Ours are all wee uns aged 6, 4 and 2.

Probably true - I grew up with a mum that meticulously trims every scrap of fat off things. I am very picky although love "transport caff" food  

a good 6 pouches worth goes in the bin or down the toilet every day.

I'm with you 925 dancer - I have yet to meet a cat that will starve itself. Mind, after offering for 2 days it gets thrown out and the next offer is often a different flavour, so perhaps there is something in it.

I am from my Mum's school of parenting with the puds, eat what you're given or go hungry. While I pay and preapre the food you'll get what you're given and like it  Incidentally I'm not a fussy eater either, maybe we make fussy eaters when we are one ourselves....................

I am told I am my own worst emeny. As I fed them and wait for approval. If I am going to uni or something, it's nothing for me to have gone up & down the stairs 4 times - and that is just for Alice  - even the neighbours cts who come to beg sometimes turn their noses up and I have to go and get something different for them.

OH tells me off for telling Alice that she is a little street urchin and should be thankful for what is put in front of her

I have to say - mine waste loads .
Smartie will only eat supermeat whiskers chicken or rabbit in tins ( luckily Sohie and Bungle will eat this too )- But they all like the jelly scaped off top bottom and sides with some meat , but not the dried bit in the middle !!!!
Winston will only eat Felix pouches and nhardly ever eats the whole lot !
FiFi at the moment will only eat RC sensible and a bit of Sheba in the little tubs or ham !
Therefore the middle of the whiskers and the remains of the Felix go outside .
I have various cats at night to eat it - last night when i came back from the vets i had 2 waiting on the doorstep for tea, later on i looked out the window ( around 1am ) and there sat 4 waiting patiently -only 1 who was there earlier who is a regular .

Nope, never have any rejected food here.  My boys eat 99% of what I give them.  The other 1% I just leave down and let them decide whether they want to eat it or wait until the next meal    Jaffa doesn't do hunger so he always eats it.  Mosi usually eats it unless he's got a furball putting him off his food or he's playing silly butter.  From time to time he just gets in a silly mood and looks at his bowl from a couple of feet and decides he's not interested.  He usually eats something in the end, but if not it doesn't hurt him to miss a meal (he has 3 a day).

But then again, my boys know that I practice tough love and dont' offer choices

Never had to give away or chuck anything and I've tried so many things, all Whickas, Felix, Tesco, Bozita, Animonda Carny, Orijen, JWB...........................And all the radnom tins I pick up for treats etc. Never hada anything rejected by Chilli or Dave. In fact, I know I've said it before, Dave is like a dog and hoovers up any little morsel of anything edible he can find.

Dawn, where abouts are you based? I am sure someone on here would come and buy it off you.... It would be a nice auction thing but postage would be sooo expensive. Great idea though

Mine also eat all their food,if they arent keen on a dry it stays down there until its all gone,I believe if they have eaten it once they will eat it again,regarding wet food though almost anything is a hit only thing that was iffy was hi-life fishy tins

Hate to gloat ( ) but I have bowls licked clean every time, Bozita wet and PAH dry, every flavour is a hit.

Smudge was terrible for it and when I thought I had found one he liked and bought all that is on the supermarket shelf......... YES you guessed, he would not eat it anymore.

Bonnie's not as bad but if there are some flavours she doesn't like in a mixed box I take them to the RSPCA.

The stuff my boys turn thier noses up at tend to go to Lesley's.....that reminds me i've still got a box of high life kitten food going begging from when there was a possibility of Mo the pub cat and her kittens coming to stay 

I've finally managed to get the terrible twosome to eat Felix mixed selection, but apart from that they'll only touch the AGAIL....Keli was a stinker for refusing wet food, but we tried her on a dry only diet, which she was more than happy to accept (PAH premium) though will be switching her to the light brand as she's getting a tad tubby! 

I'm not going to try them on other brands - or maybe just a sample tin (or 6!)

Same here. I am sticking to

Felix senior (12 flavours), Whiskas senior, fish variants and meat ones, Tiger senior (only comes in chicken in gravy but they like it), + the odd tin of Whiskas supermeat or Whiskas chicken in gravy tins or Whiskas chicken in Jelly pouches, oh and Tesco own in Jelly once in a while.

Apart from Purina one wet for Willow and Game flavour gourmet perle when I can get it.

I am not buying any more , mousses, marinades, AGAILS etc etc ever again  (he says)

Since we moved over to completely wet there have been quite a few rejects which I pass on to mum... BUT now I ahve tried lots of brands I am only going to buy what I know they like in future.

Luckily it isn't going to waste but today I am dropping off food that has been rejected by my lot to one of the fosterers who is taking and oldie in.
