I was going to put an appeal out on Purrs for them but the only way of guarenteeing a delivery tomorrow of up to 100 grams was gonna cost over £10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The postage rates are just ridiculous.

Thanks for your help Lesley and Dawn

It wouldn't have bothered me paying to get them to Franta, he is worth every penny.  Give him a hug from Auntie Lesley and tell him he better eat his biscuits now his mummy has gone to all this effort to get them. :Luv2:

Just rang the other vets that took Sasa as an emergency this time last year and they have one bag that someone did not collect and I can collect that later.  ;D ;D ;D

Thank you for replying both, I am so relieved and will unmix these biscuits again  ;D ;D

Another Vet should let you have some, you don't need a prescription for it.

He has finally started eating more kd biscuits butttttttttttttttttttt I am nearly out of them and the vet doesnt have any more. I have ordereed some yesterday but they will not be here before probably Tuesday and the vet cant get them any quicker.

Sooooooooooo the main food source is now gone!!

I have some royal canin renal biscuits which i have mixed in with the others and am hoping he will eat those and if so the vet will give me some.

However they smell totally different and dont look as nice or smell as nice............I despair, all this time trying to get him to eat and now he has started cant get the only food he will eat before next week!!

Am I angry.....I am  :censored: seething!

Por Franta and poor you - its such a worry when they are ill and can''t tell you how they feel.
I really hope he picks up and starts to eat very soon.
Some of mine have been tempted with cooked fish or a few prawns , or a bit of cooked chicken , raw mince, tuna, - Smartie didn''t eat when i first got him , but not through illness and all i could get him to eat eventually was chicken supermeat wiskers in the tins - and thats all he still likes ( and the rabbit one and his biscuits ) he has all the jelly of the top, bottom and sides with some of the meat and the rest goes outside for other cats that come round.
I couldn''t reply earlier as i was so shocked to read about Jameson and then it set me of in tears for a while .

so sorry you and Franta are having such a bad time. Won't he touch the minced chicken wet k/d? Yes the k/d dry is Hills. I'm amazed he likes the dry as not many cats do. Would he eat sardines or pilchards in tomato sauce? Hope he's eating better really soon. Maybe if he relaxes he will eat? I tried my 2 a few months back on a free sample of Hills J/d (senior, supposedly arthritis food) which has smaller, moister type biscuit pellets and they both enjoyed it - just a thought (doubt it is still on special 'free' offer though sadly). It's double the phosphorus of k/d but still within senior range. all the best.

So I am really stuck with him licking the jelly off the pouches and hope that he starts eating biscuits again.

Oh Gill, I've just got upset reading about Jameson and now Franta - hope the valium does him good and he starts eating and fingers crossed for the xrays.  Bonnie's having a party on 15th December so he had better be strong enough by then.  :Luv2:

I was hoping not to have to take Franta back to the vets today but Rachel purrrrrsuaded me that he really needed to go.......sigh

She is not happy with the amount of food he is eating and very concerned about the good kidney if he doesnt have more antibiotics, she is worried with the little food this could cause liver problems.

So he has had another antibiotic injection but also injections of valium to try and kick start him eating again. Because he was so hyper last time she gave him a very small dose but he just wanted to leave and had no interest in any of the 3 sorts of food and spring water.

So he had to have another valium injection but still took him a long time to eat and had some ad mixed with water and eventually licked the gravy off a renal pouch, he had licked jelly of a felix pouch before he went.

The idea was for me to stay with him while he ate,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,all the shouting he did was...ummmmmmmm noisy! Then she wanted me to leave him for about an hour to let him sttle down and get over the wobbles that valium gave him.

So was waiting to get his liquid pain killer for the next couple of days incase his mouth is sore and he was shouting the place down, went back to see him and he was on his back legs rattling the cage door, so decided to bring him home.

Forgot to pick up some more kd biscuits grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and know that 2 mils of this liquid pain killer has cost £35 so dread to think what his bill is gonna be. Have given her back the antbiotics so hope they will be taken off the bill, but have a couple of tins of AD diet for him too.

In theory he should not have to go back, unless he will not eat or drink, in which case he will have to be admitted again! I have to ring her tomorrow to tell how he is getting on.

His xrays are off to Bristol for advice but could be a couple of weeks before they come back to the vets.

Now need to get some kd biscuits from somewhere, presumably if they are kd, they must be Hills? He is eating a few of them at a time in preference to his purina.

He has now had a little bit of this and obviously likes the smell. When he eats anything that is not just jelly licking he seems to spend a lot of time licking round inside his mouth.....maybe he i still not sure about his mouth or wonder if its still hurting.

Blip's mouth was sore for a week or so after her dental.  I agree about the feeling of strangeness too.  Hope he eats some more of the Animonda - if he likes it, I reckon it's a good-quality yet very affordable option.

my cats did that for a while too at first, sort of sticking their tongues out and round their mouths when they were licking their food - just the strangeness I would think.
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

I suppose it's like when we've been to the dentist and we keep moving our tongues around in our mouths for weeks after cos something is different.  I had a tooth out ages ago and I still put my tongue in the space.

I think you should get in touch with Gordon Ramsay and see what he suggests  :naughty:

Come on Franta eat, drink and be merry my little blue eyed boy.

He has licked the jelly off a felix pouch and had a few kd bisciurts. Then he came to me shouting about half an hour ago, so I decided maybe he wants food and have opened one of the tins that Christine kindly sent, which look very nice inside and smells rather delicious.

He has now had a little bit of this and obviously likes the smell. When he eats anything that is not just jelly licking he seems to spend a lot of time licking round inside his mouth.....maybe he i still not sure about his mouth or wonder if its still hurting.

Dont think it should be but I am sure he is hungry.
