Good luck for today Gill.  Am hoping you won't need to go back to the vet and that franta will have picked up enormously.  However, if that's not quite the case then am adding enormous cuddles to this post for you both   :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :cuddle: :cuddle:

try and get some rest Gill... Franta will pick up on your anxiety too hun    although I know its easier said than done.

As others have said the long acting a/b is pretty good stuff.

something smelly and or smelly and warmed up is always a good bet to try, fish, chicken etc.  Our old boy Sandy that had his dental a few weeks back and had us worrying played a similar not eating trick until we put down a sachet of whiskas oh so fishy.... didn't last long! :)

Just gotta hit that right drool note with them?  Come on Franta mummy is worrying... think you've made her feel guilty enough!

big   to you both.  Hope your back is feeling better Gill xx

c-h-o-cs for you I think and something soft and enticingly stinky for him! That long acting antibiotic is a regular round here and seems to work quite well actually - much better than pills. Hope all goes well for you both now and your nerves. Know just how it feels

Royal Canin Recovery or Hills A/D made really runny by lots of stirring and adding a tiny drop of tuna water to make it even stinkier or warming it up might encourage him and will be nice and gentle on his mouth if it's very sore.

Seriously though, its great that he's a bit more active now, and that you haven't got to get to the vets again today

Prob is Gillian I have no way getting antibiotics into him cos wont let me near mouth and he is not eating or drinking.

he seems to be getting more active now and has got offf the desk again so I think my little man is coming back  ;D

Just the question of how I can get him to eat now and gonna start a new thread for this.

No he still hasnt eaten although I ..........stopped by terrible noise from next door, drilling into wall at deafening level and then two lots going at same time.................I am so stredssed shaking!

franta has just meowed for the fist time and done a lot of stretching and cleaned his eyes.

I now have to ring the vet cos he said Antibiuotics are important so if he hasnt had the two day one he is gonna have to go back.

  for you and Franta.  When you're feeling well below parr yourself and have the additional worry about what might be wrong with his kidneys its no wonder you are worried out of your mind about him but I'm sure his reaction is just normal for the work he has had done.  Hope he shows signs of improvement soon and the vets can put your mind at rest without you having to drive back out there.  If they don't need to see him again and he doesn't need the antibiotics till tomorrow it might be worth asking if they can post them to you.

I hope he is just feeling a bit sick after the GA Gill, hopefully as that wears off he'll feel a bit more lively and want to eat something.

Make sure you look after yourself too hun, and hope your back is feeling less sore once the painkillers have kicked in

OOOOooo Franta, you beautiful boy.  You're a brave little soldja.

Gill, Paddy does that when he's been for a dental - eats grass to make himself sick.  I know Pad's generally had very light anaestehtics previously because of his risk factors,  so has won round perhaps quicker than Franta this time, but I suspect he may begin to pick up a bit more by tonight.  However, I agree if you're worried then give the vet another call.

I so wish you lived in that little house near us, 'cos then we could run you to the vet.

Just spoke to the vet and he is gonna collar the vet who did the op when she comes in cos she has not had time to write stuff up in frantas notes.  I have an appointment for 1600 today if he is not improving and aslo depends on what antibiotics he was given.

Richard thinks it will be a 48 hr one but I dont think so cos Rachel was talking about getting antibiotics into him today.

Richard thinks he will improve during the day and says a lot of this is down to his age but if I am worried any more , just to take him in.  I have to ring in between 1400 and 1500.

He says that because of the drip , him not drinking is no problem because he will get flooded and he is also not concerned about him not eating yet.

He thinks all the symptoms he has are down to the GA and that he is probably feeling very nauseus sick.

I think probably because of the anti biotics, he may have to go back this afternoon.

He is headbutting now but I think his little throat is so dry and he just gave a kittle cough like he is trying to clear it.

Thanks for messages all.

Am waiting for a vet to ring me cos although he is up and can walk around now , he still isnt very good and not eating or drinking.

No chance that they will come to me cos its a nearly 50 mile round trip and my back is not good eiether.

I have tried AD diet with him this morning and he was interested but maybe had a tiny lick and that was it. He went down to his big bucket of rain water but again he didnt really drink, He tried some grass but didnt have any, and think that says he is feeling too sick to eat but grass would help him in his little mind cos would make him sick amnd therefore better.

Franta is not a purry cat but think he is trying to purr, another sign that he is trying to comfort himself. He still making all these little noises that he was last night and now has just sorta turned to doze.

Its an hour since I rang and I told them I wanted to bring him in this morning but have an hours journey and they now close in 30 mins......well the appointments grrrrrrrrrrrr

Just gonna ring them again.

Hi Gill, hows Franta doing now...any better? Did you manage a quick nap at all  :tired:

hopefully he's had something to drink, which will help his poor throat a bit...oh dear bless him, poor love  :Luv:

At least you can now get hold of a reasonable vet (not them  :censored: at Vets Now) and get some advice  :)

If your Sciatica's giving you too much gyp, perhaps they can be persauded (sp) to do a home visit?

Fingers crossed x

I'm only just catching up with this thread, kindof looks like everyone has said what I was going to but thought I'd add a few things.

The metacam is a 24 hour painkiller, but if you are worried that Franta is in pain when it is starting to wear off, I'm sure the vet would be able to help. I know when we got Caspers metacam, our vet said it was very important not to exceed the once a day dose no matter what.

Hope Franta is feeling better today!
