The vet has just rung and Franta has eaten loads and then been massively sick with a giant furball in it, Also has pooed every where and he is in a real mess.

They had given him valium cos it helps them to eat and thinks and I agree, that its the furball thats been causing the problem. I had told her that the first thing he tried to do once out in the garden again after the op, was to eat grass, so felt that he wasnt feeling good and he was trying to make himself sick.

Of course GAs also make them constipated so both ends have now been cleared.

More blood has been taken and she says the results are good in that the GA has not affected his kidneys albeit one of the levels is at 12 when it should be 10......cant remember!!!!!!!!!

All in all she is happy with him but wants him to stay in overnight and probably until Monday, cos We already have an appointment and it will save me and Franta going backwards and forwards again.

She said they havent cleaned his trousers yet but they will sort him out shortly.....think they are waiting to see if he has another outburst!

I have to ring in before 1200 tomorow to see how he is and they wont be giving him any more valium today but will give him some more food later. He ate kd and kidney biscuits in large quantitys so that sounds very good, as long as the valium hasnt just made him eat anything!

Feeling relieved a bit now and he is in the right place to be watched over and pampered cos I think they quite like him but already have found out about his shouty little ways  ;D

Aw Gill, I see what you mean - as I only read the 2 posts in other places I didn't realise the little blue eyed charmer was so ill.
When you see him give him such a big kiss and cuddle from me and Bonnie and tell him he has to get well because Bonnie is having a party in December to celebrate being with me for 1 year and I've decided that it can be her birthday too as she was 10 when I got her and don't know when her birthday is.

:ahh: :get well: :best 2: :lick: :cuddle:

Hope they can find something to stimulate his appetite again, and that they can give you further advice with the kidney issue as well

I know we've said it before, but do try not to worry (although I know its just about impossible)

Poor little Franta.  I hope they can get him eating again PDQ and that it's a matter of him having been out-of-sorts and not eating properly for a bit.

He had B12 injection before he went in for the op and it made no difference at all......I thought then that his mouth was too sore.

He is definately hungry but sniffs the food and turns his back on it.

I have just taken Franta back to the vets cos he just will not eat enough, and nothing this morning. So he has had about a quarter of one of those little tins of gormet gold pate since coming back yesterday. He is also not drinking.

He is hungry and wants to eat but just wont after smelling the food.

Tried 2 different foods this morning , including macrel fillets in tomato sauce, which he loved the smell of but wouldnt touch.

I think he is feeling sick as after eating yesterday he was belching and stomach was all sorta spasming and today his stomach is spasming.

I spoke to the vet and she has his test results back and he has kidney issues but dont know any details but she is worried if he doesnt eat and drink enogh then his kidney will fail. So its likely he will be put back on a drip and she says they have ways of getting them to eat.

I am feeling very down and he is stressing out in the car now and just meows solidly all the way and then he scratches the carriers to try and get out but he doesnt want his tray oh anything. He just doesnt want to be there.

He just is not the same cat that I took in on Monday and I feel bad now for letting them do the op  but I thought it would help him to eat.   :(

The vet says there is no reason for him not eating now to do with his mouth and I thought the antibiotics maybe were affecting him but she says no.

On vets advice bought a little tin of gourmet pearl gold ocean fish pate....cant afford that very often LOL.

He has had some of that and found it really nice but it was sorta clogging up his mouth I think cos of all the licking he was doing. I have put the rest back in the tin for another go later. He has also eaten some of the course pate that felix do in trays but think they have changed that too so not as nice as the lot I gave him before.

All in all he is eating slightly better but still not enough. I must also try the cat milk that the vet gave me for him, its powdered and only enough for two sevings but may tryb to split it into 4. I reckon this is also a food.

No I dont mind you checkin  ;D

Have I eaten ............ummmmmmmmm ummmmmmmmmmmm ummmmmmmmmmm not a lot lol but just going.....really  :shify:

Sorry Gill, only now able to catch up on our boy.

Has he eaten any "significant" amount today yet and have you for that matter?  I really don't like checking your "last posts of this person" coz feel like I'm stalking ya for info but seem to keep doing it all the same. Hope you don't mind  :innocent: Promise to stop when I know the boy is back on all 4 paws. BIG BIG  to the lovely lad  :Luv:

Bless him, Gill - am not surprised he was vocal about his experiences    Bet neither of you are looking forward to going back on Monday.  Hope now though he'll pick up quickly and be demanding cuddles again very soon.   I know what you mean about tempting his appetite - also know it's nothing new to you because of Kocka, but fingers crossed he'll have more of an appetite by tonight.

At least that solves the mystery of the antibiotics, so even if you feel sore, you are not going crazy as well. :Luv2:

Is it worth trying him on some mashed up pilchards warmed up, just to get his appetite working again.  Also, mine cannot resist cooked chicken, they literally bite my fingers off and crawl over each other to get at it.  I get the ready cooked from the cold meat cabinet in the supermarket.

At least he must be feeling slightly better to put up such a fight in the vets, that's got to be progress.

Don't stress yourself out too much Gill, Franta will sense it as well, though I know it's easier said than done.

Lots of    to both of you.

Thanks all, I do so appreciate the support   ;D

We have just got back from vet and my head is hurting after 40 miles of meowing!

He has had another antibiotic injection and she says hi mouth is not asd bad as it was but must still be painful cos he shouted at her when she was trying to look. His eye seems much better today and she thinks that he may have a dodgy tear duct that coped most of time but coudlt cope with all the lubricant they put in while he was under GA.

In fact he was a very angry cat and didnt stop shouting most of the time.....I think he was taking his revenge out on her and did managed to scratch her! He managed to escape off the table and was trying to get back in his carrier, all in all he just didnt want to be there! Neither did I!

The test results should be back tomorow but he has to go back on Monday anyway.

They found the antibiotic box in the car park but not till this morning, and it had been run over, squashed and rained upon. She thinks it must have got caught up in one of the staff car wheels.

She has given me some powdered cat milk for him and some biscuits for him to try and they had just sold the last tin of AD so couldnt get one of those for emergency. Lots of discussion about food to try to get him to eat better but he still hadnt lost weight.

Unllike Richard yesterday she was concerned that he ate nothing until late yesterday and he definately doesnt like the felix anymore and the big cats are not keen either.

Have bought him various foods to try to tempt him over the weekend.

So now I am back to being exhausted and back is sore again after driving.......sigh
