grapes. I thought they were going to pull through  :(

I'm really sad for you and the kittens. Life sometimes is just so cruel, cold and downright miserable. Maybe someone up there decided to cut them some slack and spare them several years of this existence?

Well done for trying. You are making a difference and they had someone that loved them and cared for them to the end.

You started with 5 and have lost 4, how is the last one doing?

Best regards
Andy

Sadly 4 of theses kittens are no longer withs us
Sadly I had a kitten PTS at the vets last night
Also 3 of the same litter died here do to major fits
I am heart broken over the ginger Whinger RIP
everyone in the vets was crying lasr night as they have followed the whole progress of theses kittens
I am going miss all theses guys each and everyone of them had there own personalitys
RIP my little litter please look after one and other and keep one and other warm on the cold nights

Run free to the bridge

The one part in the fostering of orphans no matter how much you try to detatch your self from falling for them you just cant help it

From day one or should I say the first night when I got theses in was love at first sight, I even managed to get a fosterer for all 5 of them but they became to unwell to travel....so I decided to keep them here and it has been up and down with theses kittens, I was in constance contact with Tom Farrington and another vet in the western rd both which are miles away from me but it is worth the trip as I know they will get the best of care
It borke my heart last night to let the ginger kitten go but the fitting had taken it toll on him he was only suffering at this stage and to keep him the way he was would hve been selfish and cruel still dosnt make it an easy diccision to end the life of a kitten that has only just began.

But I keep doing what I do because I believe in what I am doing and hpefully I am making a difference

I have a heavy heart today :'(

Sounds like they are good little fighters. Of the 5, 3 sound like they are on good form and the other 2 are still going for it. Lets hope they do ok just like thier siblings, they are from the same litter and stock so are made of the same stuff!!!

I'm sure you are knacked and worried but stay strong and positive - you are doing extreamly well and so are they.

Best of luck and "Bon courage"
Andy

I wonder why they would advise against fleaing, as they might not be able to get rid of the worms if they are injesting flea eggs? I do hope all 5 can make it, and I hope that their mum is safe.

Because we dont know for sure that it is the worms that are causing the fits.....I am fine combing them every day and every night and they are on a worming program  :Luv2:

Yes we do have frontline spray over here :thanks:
As I said in a prievous post I have more than likely left out loads of stuff on the treatment of the kittens. ;)
The first night and I mean all night was spent fine combing theses kittens inbetween trying to keep them alive they were crawling with fleas and also throwing up worms....I have since been advised  by three different vets not to use any sprays on these kits. All bottle babies when I get them are assessed and are bathed and fine combed for fleas Taking care that the kittens never get chilled.....I have been hand rearing kittys now for 17yrs but this is the first time I have seen kittens so young totaly worm bound . I wonder where there mom is and what condition she is in :(

Do you not have frontline spray over there? Thats pretty safe for little ones.
Flea anaemia is a real danger so a comb out of fleas would really help, i hope they pull through :wish:

Sorry about all the installments

Well after coming back from the vets I put the little tortie and Jiminy Cricket in a seperate basket so that the other three wouldnt be walking on them

Since then it has been up and down with them each kitten has had seasures has had searsures at this stage
Jiminy being the worst his had been having them the worst

Kitten were had the vet the night before last for another B12 shot and a Iron injection, I had also been on to tom farrington another vet in west cork and explained my concerns for theses guys he has recomended that I keep them on the parazole for 7days instead of 3days, he also sent by post some other worm drops to be used in conjunction with the the parazole and some drops to give them during a seasure or before an expected fit all these are homapatic (I am getting quite good at telling when they are going to have a fit as they get quite agatitated about an hour or so before hand)
We still dont know if any of these kittens will have any lasting effects or if they or some will continue having fits, I have been advised for the moment not to use any chemecial on there fur for fleas as if I would on kittens so young. Even when they get to the 6wks we have to be carefull what they are given incase it triggers a fit.

I know I have probabelly left out loads of stuff....But I am very tired  :tired:
I will try and keep updated as much as I can :Luv:
But at the moment all five babies are doing well :Luv:
:thanks: thank you for taking the time to read this

Hopefully I can get further along this time :)

Well anyway I asked her to keep the kittens warm and I rang my friend Lisa and asked her to post on KA and IA pleading for an urgent fosterer I also rang another girl who I was doing the H/C for and  asked her to do the same...Anyway guess who ended up with the kittens :innocent: I agreed to keep them over night that was the start of my worry and lack of sleep :-: what the young girl had misstook for sleep was the tale end of a sesure all that night was spent picking out fleas and cleaning up vomit laced with worms  I have never seen so many worms in kittens so young the first night was the easy part under the advisement of a vet I put them on parazole :scared: I was getting scared by sunday as they were having a lot of fits I took all five to a vet on monday  and he gave them a shot of antibotics he wanted to treat the worms and fleas  with something else but I said thanks but no thanks. By tuesday they were all taking it in there turns to have fits.... Lillian picked me up with my kits  as we were going to a fundraising meeting 5seconds into the journey one of the kits had a poo and they all decided to walk in it so the car was pull over so that I could clean the kittens and give them clean blankets.....about 5minuites into the journey I noticed the Tortie is crashed out and totaly unresponsive :( I ask lillian to pull over so that I can tend to her tortie is going down hill fast so I tell lillian to drive about 100yards and there is a vet on the right to bring me there now. Vet looks at her straight away while he is examing her I give him the information on the last few days he confirmed that it is worms that have migrated to the brain he said that I may lose the little tortie.....He decided based on what I told him to treat them all he gave them all steriods to bring down any swelling on the brain and a shot of B12....Next thing little Jiminy Cricket has a fit a few seconds before that he was very active...He decided to give both the kittens that were fitting some subQ fluids under the skin so that I wouldnt have to worry about there intake of fluids that night I spent over 90mins in the vet that night at this stage the kittens are not even 2 wks....BRB :Luv2:

Lets try again......
On the 2nd of october as pre agreed I was helping out with the bags packing inbetween going home and checking on my other orphans I was also doing a H/C that night for another rescue, I the afternoon I got a call to tell me that a young lady had found a litter of kittens nomore than a week old and what would she do, I asked her was there any sign of mum and she said that she had found them in the middle of a busy walk way where people always walk there dogs or go jogging and as it was raining she scooped all 5 kittys up and brought them home she then contacted me to ask what to do :( BRB
