I like those. Have you seen the ikea shelves that andy customised on this thread? http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,20189.0.html - think they look great too.  ;D

That house design is so cool! Something to bear in mind for next year when we hopefully buy somewhere in need of redecoration.

Maybe hubby thinks you love the cat more than you love him. Offer to buy hubby a cat tree too!

Hmm, I'm currently doing up my house, I may have to rethink my interior design strategies now to take inspiration from the Japanese as that is totally amazing

would tell him to get stuffed and go and get one or two more anyway

I cannot believe I thought that, especially as I don't usually have nasty thoughts and don't swear (although I know I did not in this case). If I am being honest it has been known for me to mutter very, very occasionally  a word that I would not normally use if I stubbed a toes or something. Having said all that perhaps  what I posted is exactly what I may have said under the circumstances say. ;D.  Thankfully Stuart doesn't mind what I want, (then again he too can have what he wants, I mean only yesterday he said he needs a new crash helmet) and as for vet bills well it is a good job. I know I will have one for many hundreds at the end of the month for my Jeannie who was taken ill while I was away. She was so ill the first night that my daughter took her to Sheffield so a vet could monitor her all night and that alone cost me over £120. She had to pay as she walked in the door, fortunately she has a credit card in her name but my account. Otherwise she may not have had cash on her. That did not include a consultation or anything else. Just an eye kept on Jeannie and 10 tablets. (no prizes for guessing which vets). My daughter also had to go and get her before 7.30 a.m. the next morning and take her back to my vets. Unfortunately I think my own vet was away. If he had been there I think he may have taken Jeannie home with him.

You could always suggest Cody has his own bedroom for all his cat things Lynn and then your OH wouldn't have to look at the new scratchpost  :evillaugh: My OH actually let the Team have their own room in the new house on the basis that their big scratchpost, beds, litter trays, bowls, food and litter chests, toys etc all stay in their room rather than having them scattered all round the house so they just have a small cream scratchpost tucked away in a corner of the dining room out of the way so they have something to scratch downstairs (they know if they walk within 18inches of my new sofa I go purple  :evillaugh:).

Cripes - he can't threaten to send Cody "down the road".....unless he's aware he'll be joining him! ;) I have to admit when I got my large cat post I discussed it with my partner - after I'd put a deposit on it! Luckily, he likes the design too. But any more large activity centres and I don't think he'd be too chuffed! ;)

I can't really imagine asking anyone for permission to spend my own money, Lynn : just go ahead and get the kit you want, that's my (serious) advice.  I wouldn't even discuss it, myself.

I would tell him to get stuffed and go and get one or two more anyway. Not that I would ever have to thank goodness cos I am never refused anything. Having said that as I only ever go to the local shops alone and no further he would need to take me. (Oh! my goodness what have I done as I suppose there s always a first time). Also of course what is his is mine and what is mine is my own.  ;D

being an old maid has many advantages  :evillaugh:

Ask him if 'down the road' is the same place where that 'lovely farm' is where your missing pet dog can 'be happy for the rest of his life'? >:(

I suggest you wait till he calms down, the stress of the finances will do horrible things to a man's sense of self-worth. A new cat tree might just arrive as a 'housewarming gift' from your friends at Purrs, after all (heh heh)  :evillaugh:

had a bit of a barny after that last night bc, i brought up that i was trying to decide where to put a new cat tree/scratchy post and apparently i am not to buy a new one coz theres nothing wrong with the current one (eh it wont go with the new decor  :stupid: ) plus i reckon having a pad twice the size it would be a good idea for one upstairs & one downstairs WELL .. i am not even allowed to spend the money I < YES ME ! earn and if he see's 1 claw mark on the staircase / bannister Cody is going "down the road" (where ever that may be   )  So says me wouldnt it therefore make more sense to provide as much scratchy posts as possible to try and avoid this problem but 'he' didnt understand that.

Bah...MEN !  :Dont know:

Hehe, love your idea Leigh.

My query about the Japanese design is: where do the people live? In the garden?  :evillaugh:

OMG - I love it!  That's it, if I ever win the lottery I'll be including that in my new house that I'll be building.  The toilet is ace.   :Luv2:

Me too, I like the way it looks modern and fresh,  If you took the cats out the photos you probably wouldn't even know it was a crazy cat ladies house  :evillaugh:

I love the way the design for the cats is integral in the house and the materials used for the cat parts blend prefectly with the other parts.

I confess I was looking at my stairwell the other day and thinking that it was wasted space for me and David but the cats might be able to make use of it. However, I want the cats to spend time with me, not in the stairwell, so it is back to the custom cat scratcher with Kalven.

I love that!

My only complaint would be the blinds, my cats have destroyed those things previously - just at the ends so they can walk from one side to the other without any problems.
