So sorry to hear this Alison. Poor little Archie boy  :care:.

You mentioned a few days ago he was off his food. It's so very frustrating that they can't shout up and explain when they feel poorly  :(.  In fact they seem to do quite the opposite and be far too brave for their own good. Hope ABs kick in and do the trick quickly.     for you and OH Alison

Zylkene is a new thing.  It is natural and does not need a prescription, VETUK sell it but I think it is worth discussing with your vet.  Leanne's Jess is on it as well as my Charlie

Thank you Sheryl and Helen :thanks:

Colitus seems to be bowel upset and can have several causes. To rule out parasites the vet gave him a wormer. As Archie had a temperature he had an infection and if he loses any more blood tomorrow they are going to send a sample away for analysis. Its a bit vague and I think they are hoping it will clear up :(

The vet also mentioned it could be caused by stress. Things are better since the little Bengal has stopped visiting. Archie still gets very annoyed with Parki one of my permanent visitors and I hope its not this upsetting him. Parki has started using Archie litter tray which I will have to watch as this upsets him. She usually goes outside so this is a new thing. :(

Thank you Maddiesmum will bear the drug in mind

My Guinness (RIP) had colitis and it did clear up with antibiotics.  Hope Archie is soon feeling better.  If he gets really stressed often, ask your vet about Zylkene

The boys send him a healing head kiss each :care:  What does collitus actually involve?  Do you think he might have eaten something a bit rough that's grazed his bowel?

Glad it wasn't anything that isn't treatable - not nice though

Phew back agian and so glad we took him.

The vet gave him a really thorough examination and found poor Archie had a bit of a temperature. He also confirmed the blood was coming from his bowel.

Alan, the vet, thinks it is colitus and I have antibiotics to give Archie at home. He also gave him a worming tablet.

If Archie is till losing blood tomorrow I have to take a sample in and take him back.

He is not himself which is hardly surprising.

Alan also suggested a feliway plug in and spary as Archie gets stressed very easily. This has happened since his tail was amputated :(

Thank you so much for all your concern

Hope its nothing serious, I'm sure, as you thought, its something simple like constipation and a touch of blood caused by straining.

Came back from shopping to find Archie had used his litter tray and there was fresh blood on his doings. Also a splat of blood on floor. Have an appointment at vet in an hour they fitted him in.

Really hope its just something like constipation as beside myself with worry :(
