My other cat, Max started vomiting up his normal dry food about a month or more ago. I put him on the (old) canned l/d on which he did well. When they changed that formula, I tried him on k/d wet food and Specific food (renal) but those caused him to vomit quite frequently, always 2-3 hours after eating. The vet put him on canned i/d a week ago and took blood from him. He couldn't find a linear link between the results and the vomiting. He has no fever. He's hungry and eats well, but he can't keep his food down - all weekend he's vomited between 45 mins to 3 hours after eating (I've had to give little amounts with long intervals in between). Originally when the vomiting was sporadic my vet tried him on Katalax in case it was a furball, but I don't think so - for one thing, he's a lazy groomer.
His bloods had his urea normal but creatinine too high, protein too high, red cell count too high and glucose high, but the last is apparently probably stress related as Max is petrified at the vet. ALT of 35 which is above normal but apparently not significantly so. Slight dehydration but he'd vomited and been starved before his test and he's not a great water drinker.
I am worried that there could be either a blockage or some kind of inflammation as it is weird that he did not vomit for a week, then this weekend has been terrible and also that it takes such a relatively long time after eating for him to vomit. The way it happens is that he eats well and enthusiastically, has a good sleep, wakes up, sits upright and projectile vomits before he has had time to move (poor Swampy who curls up with him has been vomited on twice now). He must be a bit dehydrated but for the moment he's still active, yelling for food (not getting any). I am going to take him to the vet tomorrow if he'll see him as the emergency lot say if he's still active, no point in going there as they will just stabilise him.
Looks like a week of tests, so I am very doubtful that I can get to France to sort out Swampy's food shipment. I can't leave him on his own all day. I know someone (sorry I forget who) said their cat had something blocking his tum which caused these sort of symptoms. Has anyone got any ideas or similar experiences as I'm really worried.
