Could you try the RC Recovery food?  They seem to like that.  Otherwise some nice smelly sardines in tomato sauce?  The metacam can upset their tummies.  Hope all goes well

Well give him lots of love from us lot and try not to panic too much. Animals are amazingly resilient and I'm sure he will start to eat soon.

He may have done as i left the food in with him but it did not look touched this morning. poor mite.

i have to take him to the surgeon on monday anyway so they will be able to offer advice and help but i am worried about the lack of painkiler at the mo! managed to get his antibiotics in after a struggle to get him to take the tablet!! Vet said he could have that without food so it is just the metacam now.

Is it possible that he had somethig to eat over night? I'm not sure about the pain relief without eating thing... I would definately call your vet for advice as he needs both food and water as well as his meds but may feel too poorly to feel like eating. It may be that if he continues to not eat that you can be given a food replacement that you can syringe feed him to keep his strength up.
It may be an idea to try and stimulate his appitite with something quite smelly, eg. fish or some more fresh chicken, My Oscar was tempted by roast chicken when he was poorly because of the strong aroma.
Hope he feels better soon :)

Hi all

Freddie was run over on Thursday night  :(

Took him to the emergency vet and they kept him cofortable during the night but they could not xray as they did not want to risk giving him a general and in true freddie style he would not stay still!! He was transferred to his regular vet on Friday morning and they have xrayed and he has fractured his pelvis poor love. There are no leg injuries though as first thought so that is good. I am taking him to see an orthapedic surgeon on Monday morning as they think he may need an op on one side as he has broken part of the bone off which is sticking into his muscle and causing him pain.

I have him home for the weekend which is scary as i don't want to do anything wrong! I have got him a medium sized dog cage to try and aviod any unecessary movement and he is in there with his blanket, litter tray and food. He managed to use the litter tray last night for a wee so that was good. My concern is that he has not eaten and the vet has given us metacam to syringe into his mouth but have told us to do this after he has eaten and he doesn't want to eat.....i have got him his favourite food and boiled him so chicken but no joy yet and i am worried that he needs his painkillers but i can't give them to him until he has eaten! Help! any ideas anyone?? can i give it to him without food?? He also hasn't had a drink, i have tried water and now cat milk and nothing yet! I know he as only been home a day but it is natural for a mum to worry! Any help or advice would be great!

Thanks

Lisa xx
