hi ther Swampy's mum. i'm new here and your story is the first i've read. how incredibly sad, what you've all been through. i wanted to share my Lupus' story with you to try and give you a bit more hope, if thats ok.
Lupus was 15 weeks old when he ran up a wooden ladder which tipped and landed on his head. he had swelling of the brain and temporary (the vet said) blindness. he couldnt use his back legs and was at the vets for a week. it was touch and go for a while and the stress and worry when he came home was awful. he had major problems coping with the blindness but slowly, over the course of about 6 months, some of his sight returned ( i think he sees outlines and shadows). those 6 months while he was recovering were awful for me. i didnt sleep much either, every noise he made woke me up and i was always scared to leave the house in case one of the other cats bullied him while i was out. thinking back on it now it was a very very stressful time. Lupus was very confused and scared a lot of the time and i sometimes wondered whether it was fair of me to put him through it all. all in all in took around 6 months+ for him to be mostly recovered. his sight is still poor and he goes cross eyed and falls over every now and then but he is now nearly 11 years old.
my thoughts and best wishes are with you all. xx
